Elementary Curriculum Specialist (TOSA)

TITLE: Elementary Curriculum Specialist TOSA JOB GOALS: To provide training and leadership in the professional development of elementary staff. To provide leadership in curriculum review and development processes. PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: Coordinate professional development activities, workshops, and in-services for elementary teachers. Coordinate curriculum-related resources for grades K-5, including specialized programs such as Spanish Immersion and Gifted and Talented education. Work in collaboration with Secondary Curriculum Specialist on district wide trainings. Provide leadership to district staff development committee by conducting needs assessments and setting and evaluating district and site S.M.A.R.T. goals. Facilitate process for planning and submission of annual Read Well by 3rd Grade report. Design and offer specialized training based on staff, building, administrative and district needs. Work in collaboration with building principals and site staff development teams to implement building staff development plans. Facilitate and/or co-facilitate District Staff Development Committee. Serve as resource support for staff by engaging in continuous professional growth. Communicate Professional Development opportunities to the staff and the public. Design and deliver training for District Teacher Induction Program. Support probationary teachers through facilitation of training sessions. Utilize assessment data for diagnostic and intervention purposes as well as for program evaluation. Support ongoing development of content area literacy for grades K-5. Other duties as assigned. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:Salary and work year to be established by the Board EVALUATION:Performance of this job will be evaluated annually. 1. Develops lesson plans and instructional materials and provides individualized and small group instruction to adapt the District approved curriculum to the needs of each pupil. 2. Translates lesson plans into developmentally appropriate learning experiences. 3. Establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior to achieve an effective learning atmosphere. 4. Evaluates pupils’ academic and social growth, keeps appropriate records in a timely fashion prepares progress reports. 5. Identifies pupil needs and makes appropriate referrals and develops strategies for individual education plans. 6. Maintains a professional day, as defined by building/and contract. 7. Communicates regularly with parents outside normal classroom day by means of Schoology, newsletters, phone calls, e-mails, conferences, etc. 8. Works in a supportive and collaborative manner with colleagues and supervisors. 9. Maintains and improves professional skills by participating in building and department meetings, formal coursework, workshops, and seminars in an effort to stay current with best teaching practices. 10. Participates in a professional learning community on a regular basis. 11. Integration of technology into instruction. 12. Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.
