Mounds Park Academy, a vibrant and diverse PreK12 independent school, seeks a full-time Upper School English teacher for the 20172018 school year. English teachers at MPA are responsible for providing a classroom instructional program that supports the individual needs of all students in accordance with the school’s mission and values. We seek individuals with experience in teaching high school age students with one or more degrees in an English related subject. It is expected that a successful candidate would: Teach at least three (3) Upper School English classes Incorporate and work through multi-source and multi-draft student work Create and use lesson plans and syllabi as per MPA English Curriculum Review Inspire students to enter into the creative process in classes Supervise, encourage, counsel, and evaluate students Create an effective classroom environment Utilize and incorporate available academic technology for instruction Communicate and meet with students and parents during scheduled conferences and as necessary Participate in English Department and staff development activities Show a willingness to contribute to the life of the school outside of the classroom Perform additional duties as needed (serve on school-wide committees, advise a student club, etc.)

Licensed School Nurse, District Wide
Description: Licensed School Nurse. Position works 1.0 FTE (40 hours per week) for 186 days per year following teacher’s schedule. This positon is District Wide. Job Summary: Assess individual student health needs; prepare health plans, delegate nursing and medical functions to other staff as appropriate for the task, individual student and staff person. Administer and document medications following district procedures. Maintain health records. Obtain immunization records for all students and complete state immunization reports. Perform nursing procedures such as tracheostomy care, gastrostomy care, diabetes management, and nebulization. Participate in the special education team, completing the health portion of special education evaluations & Individual Education plans, supervising PCAs and completing Medical Assistance billing procedures. The LSN works with the part-time LPN to assure staffing for health office and that a nurse accompanies students with nursing needs on field trips. The RN participates in regular LSN meetings and other projects/ committee representation as needed.
Physical Education/Health Teaching Position, 1.0 FTE
PE/Health Teacher: This is a 1.0 FTE benefited position beginning August 2017. The ideal candidate should exhibit a wide range of teaching skills, have significant Physical Education and Health content knowledge, and have the ability to engage motivated students to learn. This position requires the ability to teach age appropriate lessons, work with students of varying ability, provide differentiated instruction for skill development and fitness, and to inspire an enjoyment for lifetime physical fitness.
