2024-25 school year – Science/Physics Teacher
The position is full-time and part of the teacher bargaining unit. The position will be serving students at both the Mahtomedi High School and Mahtomedi Middle School.
Salary and benefits are part of the Master Agreement
Minimum Requirements:
Must have a valid MN teaching license: 9-12 Physics or 9-12 Chemistry license and a 5-8 science license, or able to obtain the appropriate license from PELSB, Professional Educator Licensing and Standards Board.
Qualifications:
- Previous teaching experience working with secondary-level students
- Strong knowledge of science curriculum and standards
- Collaborative team member of a Professional Learning Community, striving to implement best practices for instruction and assessment
- Proven leadership skills and the ability to build relationships with colleagues, community and students
- Seeks opportunities to improve their practice through coaching feedback and ongoing reflection
- Excellent communication skills: ability to communicate ideas and thoughts with accuracy and clarity, ability to communicate effectively with parents/guardians regarding student progress, student goals and abilities, and overall experience in their classroom
Responsibilities:
- Identify the needs of students through formal and informal assessments
- Plan, develop and implement appropriate lessons to ensure the achievement of student growth
- Communicate with students, parents and staff on regular basis on student progress and work in collaboration for positive student outcomes
- Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students and use information to adjust teaching strategies
- Update all necessary records accurately as required by laws, district policies and school regulations
- Attend department, school and parent meetings or functions
- Other job-related duties as assigned
