School Psychologist 1.0 FTE (2 positions)

We are currently seeking a 1.0 FTE School Psychologist to work at Lake Elmo Elementary for the 2016-2017 school year.

Licensed School Nurse

Description: Licensed School Nurse. Position works 1.0 FTE (40 hours per week) for 186 days per year following teacher’s schedule. This position is for the 16/17 School Year. Job Summary: Assess individual student health needs; prepare health plans, delegate nursing and medical functions to other staff as appropriate for the task, individual student and staff person. Administer and document medications following district procedures. Maintain health records. Obtain immunization records for all students and complete state immunization reports. Perform nursing procedures such as tracheostomy care, gastrostomy care, diabetes management, and nebulization. Participate in the special education team, completing the health portion of special education evaluations & Individual Education plans, supervising PCAs and completing Medical Assistance billing procedures. The LSN works with the part-time LPN to assure staffing for health office and that a nurse accompanies students with nursing needs on field trips. The RN participates in regular LSN meetings and other projects/ committee representation as needed.

As an MPS teacher, you will: * Teach students standards-aligned curricula using strategies that foster thinking, reasoning and problem solving * Use a variety of assessment strategies diagnostic, formative and summative to inform instructional decisions and increase students’ ownership of their learning * Lead rigorous, inquiry-based learning tasks to engage students in deep content exploration as well as the habits of scholarship * Collaborate with peers to develop, plan and implement innovative practices based on students’ needs/abilities * Assess students’ developmental, cognitive and social needs and provide developmentally appropriate instruction to meet those needs. * Create learning environments that are safe, respectful and interesting as well as fair for students from various cultural backgrounds, gender identities, races, ability levels, and developmental needs * Collaborate and communicate regularly with families * Apply your knowledge of the Minnesota State Standards, district graduation requirements, subject matter, classroom management techniques, current researched best practices and strategies, as well as students’ learning styles and needs, both academic and affective * Work to help your school achieve the goals of your school improvement plan and the Minneapolis Public School District strategic plan * Assess own instructional effectiveness through the Professional Development Process (PDPLC). Participate in ongoing and regular staff, team and individual professional development.

Licensed Social Worker

Description: 1.0 FTE School Social Worker at Tokata Learning Center (.4) and Central Family Center (.6). Job Summary: Facilitate all special education and 504 services in the assigned building including referral review, intervention problem solving and data collection, serve as district representative at special education due process meetings (Evaluation Planning & IEP meetings), coordination of all 504 evaluation and accommodation plans, and counseling of students as needed.
