Utilizing collaboration, this class is accountable for promoting student success through providing guidance and leadership to employees as it relates to social emotional learning (SEL).

Essential Functions

  • Provide leadership in the area of SEL as a resource for materials, adaptations and accommodations to support students
  • Access and share SEL resources in the district and work to adapt and modify curriculum to meet student needs
  • Monitor and update the District 287 resources and continually provide professional development on curriculum
  • Coordinate ongoing professional development for staff related to SEL and provide ongoing support, coaching, and modeling for staff
  • Works collaboratively with site and district leaders to implement SEL strategies district-wide
  • Develops and maintains a written plan for effective delivery of SEL programming;
  • Maintain data on services provided to students and staff within the district;
  • Communicates the goals of the SEL program to key audiences;
  • Consults and collaborates effectively with caregivers, teachers, administrators, and other educational/community resources regarding students with identified concerns and needs;
  • Participates in professional development activities to improve knowledge and skills;
  • Collects and analyzes data to guide program direction and emphasis;
  • Measures results of SEL program activities and shares results as appropriate;

ASL Interpreter

Summary of Scope of Classification

This class is accountable for facilitating communication between deaf/hard of hearing students and others by interpreting in educational settings.  Participates as a member of the educational team serving these students.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of;
    • American Sign Language (ASL), Pigeon Sign English (PSE), Spoken English, and Minimal Language Signing modes;

Essential Functions

  • Utilizes current methods of interpreting to best serve deaf/hard of hearing students, staff and deaf parents with their communication needs;
  • Interprets spoken English into sign language for all communication in a school day, such as classroom, lectures, lab or other educational settings where conversations between deaf/hard of hearing students and anyone else are taking place;
  • Takes notes for students in various educational settings.  Prepares lecture notes, ensuring accurate interpretation;
  • Previews videotapes, PowerPoint and other media presentations in preparation for interpreting for deaf/hard of hearing students;
  • Interprets at student orientation sessions, various meetings and activities between students and student groups and staff.  Also interprets at IEP meetings;
  • Meets regularly with the Deaf/Hard of Hearing teacher regarding the progress of individual students.  Works closely with team teachers to ensure that accommodations are made for students;
  • Receives some work direction from licensed staff, including Deaf/Hard of Hearing teacher;
  • Attends mentoring sessions with an assigned mentor and/or attends staff development sessions to maintain and upgrade skills;
  • As a member of the educational team, performs other related duties such as tutoring, job coaching, copying materials, driving and other duties necessary to facilitate the students’ education;
  • Other duties as assigned.

CORRESPONDENCE: Formats and types a full range of correspondence such as memos, form letters, reports, agenda notes etc. from rough draft, transcription, department templates and/or develops own communication documents to disseminate pertinent information to customers or internal staff. Proofreads for content. Edits using knowledge of grammar, punctuation and spelling;
FILING: Designs filing systems. Organizes and maintains individual and department files (including confidential files);
REPORT GENERATION/WRITING: Compiles and generates reports from a variety of sources. Prepares narrative or statistical reports, exercising judgment in the selection of items to be included;
INTERPERSONAL: Provides excellent customer service while adhering to departments customer service guidelines. Answers routing phone calls, e-mails, and other correspondence details in a timely and consistent manner. Provides advice to callers regarding district policy and procedures (e.g. citing a regulation to solve a specific problem). Coordinates with others both within and outside of the organization on a variety of non-routine matters;
SUPPORTING ROLE: Arranges and coordinates meetings (including space, equipment, and any food arrangements). Researches, assembles and coordinates meeting materials (e.g. charts, graphs, reports). Makes travel arrangements;
OFFICE MANAGEMENT: Maintains an inventory of supplies and equipment. Orders supplies when necessary. RECORDS MANAGEMENT: Maintains and updates Document Management System software as well as computer network file environment. Understands and follows District Records Retention Schedule, record destruction policy and department procedures related to records;
SUPPORT/TRAIN/COACH: Provide support, training and coaching to staff members and other relevant customers on system related tools and processes as needed.
INDEPENDENT PROBLEM SOLVER/CRITICAL THINKER: Uses independent judgment when communicating with internal and external customers. Requires minimum supervision and direction on day to day tasks. Regularly recognizes, recommends and provides input into the implementation process of a more effective method to work operations.
TECHNOLOGY: Works with district provided hardware technology and systems using these tools to perform functions of the job. Hourly Special Education Paraprofessional, Grades 9-12, Long-Term Substitute

Saint Paul Conservatory for Performing Artists is a public high school in the heart of downtown St. Paul, unlike any other in the country. SPCPA provides authentic arts training taught by professional artists while also focusing on academic standards. Students spend half of each day in academic programming, and the other in arts. We are in our 19th year of operation and draw students from over 40 different school districts.  We’re seeking a long-term substitute Special Education Paraprofessional to join our team through the end of the current school year (May 23, 2024).

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide academic support to special education students in the general education classroom.
  • Monitor students who need a quiet testing environment.
  • Follow all district procedures and policies for maintaining a healthy and safe environment for students and staff.
  • Behave and speak in a professional manner.
  • Follow district standards in terms of dress, punctuality, and attendance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of instructional efforts.

Compensation: $18.00 – $20.00 per hour, depending on experience/qualifications

Associate Director of College Counseling

Primary Function (Purpose of Position):  The Associate Director of College Counseling will join DeLaSalle during the initial school year when separate departments for college counseling and student support (i.e., academic and social-emotional counseling) are fully established. They will collaborate closely with the Director of College Counseling to advance the growth of the current college counseling program while leveraging its strengths. While the Director oversees coordination and implementation aspects of and handles a student caseload, the Associate Director will aid in program development and implementation, also managing a student caseload.

Representative Responsibilities:

  • Act as an authority on the entire college admissions process, spanning all potential postsecondary pathways, to assist students, parents, and faculty effectively.
  • Support all aspects of a comprehensive college counseling program for all students in grades 9-12.
  • Individual Student Work: Guide and assist assigned students throughout the college and financial aid processes search and application processes via a personalized, inclusive counseling approach including.
  • Small Group Work: Assist in planning and facilitating small group sessions, such as support groups for first generation college students.
  • Large Group Work: Support facilitation of college and career-focused lessons for students in grades 9-12 during advisory and classroom sessions.
  • Events: Assist in organizing and conducting college and career exploration events for students and parents during school hours, occasionally requiring evening and weekend availability, to ensure thorough awareness of the many factors involved in the college exploration, research, and application process.
  • School Culture: Support and promote the college-going culture through activities such as college fairs, college visit field trips, and application and enrollment celebrations.
  • Academic Planning: In accordance with high school graduation requirements, and in collaboration with School Counselors, advise students on high school course selection and impacts on the college admission process.
  • Testing: Stay updated on the evolving college admissions testing landscape, assist students with test registration (ACT/SAT) and preparation planning, and help students understand potential of transferring college credits earned while in high school (AP, CIS, GAP, PACC).
  • Student Application Logistics and Support: Guide students through the college application process, including reviewing all application components and monitoring student progress.
  • School-Based Application Logistics: Submit all school-based application components and documentation in a timely manner never missing a deadline, including writing and submitting letters of recommendation and providing colleges with appropriate information about DeLaSalle such as its philosophy, organization and programs.
  • Paying for college:

o   Maintain thorough knowledge of financing college options and logistics, including but not limited to merit- and need-based aid, need-aware and need-blind admissions, types of financial aid, financial aid applications, and scholarships.

o   Assist students and families to ensure understanding of postsecondary financing structure and processes and completion of necessary application steps.

  • Athletics: Support student-athletes for whom collegiate athletics may drive the college search process.
  • College Representative Visits: Assist in coordinating on-campus college representative visits.
  • Professional Responsibility and Accountability:

o   Represent DeLaSalle and its students through active participation in college counseling professional organizations and take a leadership role in meetings, committees and workshops.

o   Stay current with trends and changes in college admission, higher education and national testing by actively pursuing professional development opportunities and maintaining subscriptions to relevant publications.

o   Visit college campuses to establish and maintain relationships and keep them abreast of our school programs.

o   Participate in informational programs hosted by colleges and universities in the region.

  • Comprehensive College Counseling Program Assessment: Along with Principal and Director of College Counseling, review and evaluate the college counseling program on an annual basis.

Director of Athletics and Activities

Purpose of Position:  The Director of Athletics and Activities is responsible for the administration and supervision of all DeLaSalle High School sanctioned athletic programs, athletic camps, fine arts programs, school clubs and activities.

  • Maintains all Activities Department personnel records including: annual CPR & AED certification; validation of licenses/certificates; accident & violation records and reports; professional coaching certifications/endorsements; safe and secure environment training and certification, and all other departmental documentation;
  • Plan and seasonally conduct orientations, workshops or other professional development opportunities for all Activities Department staff with special emphasis on program head coaches/moderators.
  • Provide leadership to and management of all Activities Department staff. Especially in the areas of professional improvement and development for the school’s coaches and moderators in assessing programs annually with a continuous improvement mindset by identifying program strengths, opportunities for improvement and by establishing goals for future program performance.
  • Oversight and management of the Activity Department budget through continuous monitoring, review and analysis of all department expenditures and revenues.
  • Proactively plan and engage supervisor in budget planning and review, as well as engagement with program coaches/moderators with special emphasis on continuous evaluation of the effectiveness and value of funding spent on Activity operations.
  • Additional oversight emphasis on salary, contracted service and ensuring the timely submission of records/forms/disbursements related to all Activities related operations.
  • Proactive and responsive management of activity program agency accounts including collaboration with school’s Advancement & Operations teams relating to all activity fundraising and revenue generation through sponsorship partnerships.
  • Responsible for ensuring the successful execution of all co-curricular activities within the organization, including:
  • Scheduling and planning for all athletic, fine art and activity-based programming with regards to contest/matches/events, transportation coordination, equipment and supply procurement, and coordination and successful use of facilities.
  • Adherence to and enforcement of all governing body rules, by-laws and school policies and practices for all activity programs and participants. Maintain and advise improvements to school’s emergency response policies/procedures related to activities.
  • Management and supervision of all student body government activities i.e. Homecoming, Winterfest, pep fests, dances, blood drives and all community building events.
  • Secure, schedule and otherwise provide for all Activities Department programming both on school owned property and at third-party owned locations. i.e. secure use permits, rental contracts, certificates of insurance, etc.
  • Provide for successful game/event management, in part by: ensuring the successful delivery of concession operations, providing outstanding support to event staff, volunteers and officials; serve as the school’s representation to guests; and provide for the resolution of any customer service related matters.
  • Collaborate with the Communications Department to ensure the Activities section of the school website, as well as school communication portals such as Canvas and Remind, are being used properly and effectively.
  • Provide training to coaches on effective and appropriate use of school communication resources.
  • Represent the school and serve to advance its interests by serving as an active member in the school’s conference affiliation (Tri-Metro), the Minnesota State High School League, Region 6AA and the state’s Athletic Director’s organization.
  • Proactively provide guidance, advice and analysis to Supervisor and other school leadership on current and future co-curricular programming needs and trends. Serve to benefit the school’s strategic needs and evaluation of future activity and athletic programming possibilities.
  • Partner with school’s Admissions Team on to ensure successful execution of Admission events and their related Activities Department functions, including, but not limited to: oversight and facilitation of Activity Fair, presentation at Open Houses, and support for secondary school Admission events.
  • Encourage community participation in all Activities Department events.
