Major Job Functions; Specific Tasks/Required Knowledge, Ability and Skills: Eastern Carver County Schools believes that the public school has a role in education, intervention, and prevention of chemical use and abuse. The Chemical Health Counselor works with the building administration and the counseling office to meet the social, emotional, behavioral health of students who demonstrate areas of need or exposure to chemical use or dependency. Through individual and group counseling services and outside services and supports, develops alternative solutions to support informed decision making in order for student learning to continue in a safe educational environment

Salary / Benefits
Competitive compensation and benefits package based upon successful candidate’s background and experience, but is anticipated to be in the range of $105,000 to $140,000.

Essential Functions

Proofreads for content. Edits using knowledge of grammar, punctuation, and spelling;
- FILING: Designs filing systems. Organizes and maintains individual and department files (including confidential files). Oversees the division/site filing organization and able to reach files from the various departments/programs both for staff and student files included;
- REPORT GENERATION/WRITING: Researches and assembles information from a variety of sources and prepares statistical and/or narrative reports; analyzes information and may make recommendations;
- INTERPERSONAL: Provides excellent customer service while adhering to departments customer service guidelines. Answering sensitive elevated issue type phone calls, e-mails, and other correspondence details in a timely and consistent manner. Acts for supervisor by interpreting established policies and procedures, etc. Troubleshoots by relieving administrator of as much administrative detail as possible. Acts for and regularly makes decisions in supervisor’s absence (within prescribed limits of authority);

- RECORDS MANAGEMENT: Maintains and updates Document Management System software as well as computer network file environment. Understands and follows District Records Retention Schedule, record destruction policy and department procedures related to records. Ensures sensitive information and data privacy documents are either kept or shredded as deemed appropriate;
- SUPPORT/TRAIN/COACH: Provides direction, guidance, and is the first level of support of troubleshooting for other clericals within the division/site. Provide support, training, and coaching to staff members and other relevant customers on system related tools and processes as needed;
- INDEPENDENT PROBLEM SOLVER/CRITICAL THINKER: Uses independent judgment when communicating with internal and external customers. Requires minimum or no direction from supervisor or others in all job functions. Essential Functions

- Promotes the research and implementation of the best practices and evidence-based social emotional learning, mental health, and behavioral interventions within the District.
- Supervises the work of the Restorative Practices Coordinator, Chemical Health Coordinator, SEL Coordinators, and Program Coordinator.
- Represents children’s mental health and chemical health on select district level, county, and state committees.
- Implements and oversees grant initiatives in areas of responsibility.
- Acts as clinical supervisor for school social workers within the district.
Liaison for school-based delivery model of mental health services by consultants and mental health professionals from private agencies. - Provides back up support for crisis needs within the district.
- Leads district-wide PREPARE teams and crisis planning work in collaboration with Health and Safety leader.
- Revises and implements 360 team planning process for sites.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
