Primary Function (Purpose of Position): The Associate Director of College Counseling will join DeLaSalle during the initial school year when separate departments for college counseling and student support (i.e., academic and social-emotional counseling) are fully established. They will collaborate closely with the Director of College Counseling to advance the growth of the current college counseling program while leveraging its strengths. While the Director oversees coordination and implementation aspects of and handles a student caseload, the Associate Director will aid in program development and implementation, also managing a student caseload.

Representative Responsibilities:
- Act as an authority on the entire college admissions process, spanning all potential postsecondary pathways, to assist students, parents, and faculty effectively.
- Support all aspects of a comprehensive college counseling program for all students in grades 9-12.
- Individual Student Work: Guide and assist assigned students throughout the college and financial aid processes search and application processes via a personalized, inclusive counseling approach including.
- Small Group Work: Assist in planning and facilitating small group sessions, such as support groups for first generation college students.
- Large Group Work: Support facilitation of college and career-focused lessons for students in grades 9-12 during advisory and classroom sessions.
- Events: Assist in organizing and conducting college and career exploration events for students and parents during school hours, occasionally requiring evening and weekend availability, to ensure thorough awareness of the many factors involved in the college exploration, research, and application process.
- School Culture: Support and promote the college-going culture through activities such as college fairs, college visit field trips, and application and enrollment celebrations.
- Academic Planning: In accordance with high school graduation requirements, and in collaboration with School Counselors, advise students on high school course selection and impacts on the college admission process.
- Testing: Stay updated on the evolving college admissions testing landscape, assist students with test registration (ACT/SAT) and preparation planning, and help students understand potential of transferring college credits earned while in high school (AP, CIS, GAP, PACC).
- Student Application Logistics and Support: Guide students through the college application process, including reviewing all application components and monitoring student progress.
- School-Based Application Logistics: Submit all school-based application components and documentation in a timely manner never missing a deadline, including writing and submitting letters of recommendation and providing colleges with appropriate information about DeLaSalle such as its philosophy, organization and programs.
- Paying for college:
o Maintain thorough knowledge of financing college options and logistics, including but not limited to merit- and need-based aid, need-aware and need-blind admissions, types of financial aid, financial aid applications, and scholarships.
o Assist students and families to ensure understanding of postsecondary financing structure and processes and completion of necessary application steps.
- Athletics: Support student-athletes for whom collegiate athletics may drive the college search process.
- College Representative Visits: Assist in coordinating on-campus college representative visits.
- Professional Responsibility and Accountability:
o Represent DeLaSalle and its students through active participation in college counseling professional organizations and take a leadership role in meetings, committees and workshops.
o Stay current with trends and changes in college admission, higher education and national testing by actively pursuing professional development opportunities and maintaining subscriptions to relevant publications.
o Visit college campuses to establish and maintain relationships and keep them abreast of our school programs.
o Participate in informational programs hosted by colleges and universities in the region.
- Comprehensive College Counseling Program Assessment: Along with Principal and Director of College Counseling, review and evaluate the college counseling program on an annual basis.
