The Director of Educational Programs is a key leadership role within the school district, responsible for overseeing a wide range of educational programs and initiatives that promote equity, opportunity, and academic success for all students. This position specifically focuses on English language programming, Spanish Immersion, AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination), Achievement and Integration programming, and serves as a primary advocate for equity and opportunity in education. The Director of Educational Programs collaborates with administrators, teachers, families, and community partners to develop, implement, and evaluate initiatives that support diverse learners and foster inclusive learning environments.
Responsibilities:
Develop, implement, and evaluate English language programming to support the language acquisition and academic success of English language learners (ELLs).
Oversee the Spanish Immersion program, ensuring high-quality instruction, appropriate resources, and continuous improvement to meet the needs of students in bilingual education.
Provide leadership and guidance to teachers and staff in delivering effective instructional strategies and support services for ELLs and Spanish Immersion students, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
Collaborate with curriculum specialists and instructional leaders to align English language programming, Spanish Immersion, and other programs with district goals, standards, and best practices.
Oversee the implementation of the AVID program, ensuring that students receive the necessary support to develop academic and college-readiness skills, regardless of their language background.
Provide professional development and coaching to educators on AVID instructional strategies, including inquiry-based teaching, collaboration, and organization techniques.
Collaborate with administrators and teachers to implement Achievement and Integration programming, ensuring equitable access to resources, opportunities, and support services for all students.
Develop and implement initiatives to foster equity and opportunity in education, addressing achievement gaps and ensuring equal access to educational resources and opportunities for all students, including ELLs and Spanish Immersion students.
Collaborate with community organizations, families, and stakeholders to create partnerships and resources that support equity and opportunity initiatives.
Provide guidance and support to district staff on culturally responsive practices, multicultural education, and strategies for promoting an inclusive and supportive school climate for diverse learners.
Collaborate with district leaders to develop policies and procedures that promote equity, inclusion, and access to educational opportunities for all students, including those in English language programming, Spanish Immersion, and other programs.
Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of educational programs and initiatives, using data and evidence-based practices to inform decision-making and drive continuous improvement.
Stay updated on research, legislation, and best practices related to English language programming, Spanish Immersion, AVID, Achievement and Integration programming, and equity and opportunity in education.
