Special Education Assistant (Two positions)

Effective immediately, the Human Resources Department will accept online applications for the position of Special Education Assistant (two positions) at our Middle School and High School for the 2023-24 school year.  This position works 6.5 hours per day plus half hour duty-free lunch, Monday – Friday, school days only.   Riding morning and/or afternoon bus routes may be included with this position.  The rate of pay is $20.16 per hour, based on the 2021-23 Master Agreement between SSP #6 and Local No. 7312, Educational Support Professionals.   This position reports to the Director of Student Services and Building Administrator.

Job Summary
Assist special education teacher in supporting the physical and instructional needs of students with disabilities in regular and special education setting.  Assist in implementation of classroom programs, including self-care, behavior regulation, and instruction programs.  Accompany special education students on bus routes as required in the student’s Individual Education Plan (IEP).

Job Functions

Assist students off the bus and into their first class of the day as needed.
Assist students with clothing when needed, clearing locker and escort students to the afternoon or transportation.
Accompany special education students on bus routes as required in the student’s IEP.   As assigned, ride the bus and supervise students as they enter and leave the bus, monitor for behavioral or physical needs to ensure student safety.
Assist students with self-care activities including but not limited to toileting, dressing, eating as required by Case Manager.
Assist students to be safe and socially appropriate on the playground or recess activities.
Follow case manager or special education teacher directions in modifying or accommodating student assignments.
Work within the special education program such as SUN or EBD to assist students with teacher assigned tasks.  Modify or accommodate as directed by the special education teacher
Regularly monitor student progress using collection techniques developed by case manager or special education teacher.
Follow Individual Education Plan (IEP) and Positive Behavior Intervention Support Plan (PBISP) as directed by case manager.
Perform accurate and timely reporting of services and progress for student’s IEP, Third Party Billing records, report cards, progress notes and/or conferences as directed by case manager.
Participate in all required trainings as requested.
Adhere to staff and program guidelines and district procedures and policies.
Cultivate and develop inclusive and equitable working relationships with students, staff, families and community members.
Demonstrate prompt, regular and reliable attendance.
Other duties as assigned.

Special Education Teacher (DCD) – LTS

Effective Date: January 15th – April 12th, 2024 (approximate dates)

Salary:  Per Master Agreement

Minimum Requirements:
Minimum of bachelor’s degree and a Special Education teaching license with DCD experience preferred.  Must have strong communication skills and previous experience preferred working with IEP goals and the ability to meet critical deadlines.

Job Summary:
Responsible for providing an educational environment that will help students with disabilities in learning and fulfill their growth potential.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Identify the needs of assigned students with disabilities through formal and informal assessments
  • Plan, develop and implement appropriate lessons to ensure the achievement of student growth
  • Communicate with students, parents and staff on a regular basis on student progress
  • Write IEP’s (Individual Educational Plans) and Due Process reports in accordance to MDE regulations
  • Attend department, school and parent meetings
  • Other job-related duties as assigned

Executive Director.  WLA is seeking a full-time Executive Director effective July 1, 2024.

About the Academy

Woodbury Leadership Academy (WLA) is a chartered public school that opened in 2014 and serves approximately 760 students in grades K-8. The mission of WLA is to empower dedicated staff to deliver academically rigorous, Core Knowledge curriculum to students, as well as promoting core virtues, and cultivating leadership skills. The vision of WLA is to be a school where learning empowers students to be future leaders and global citizens.

Beginning in the 2024-2025 school year we will be launching our high school, beginning with 9th grade, and adding a grade level each year thereafter. We have 84 employees and are housed in quality facilities on a nine-acre campus. Our current working budget is $8.5 million, and WLA has a healthy fund balance. Job Requirements

The successful candidate must hold a Minnesota license as a Principal, but MN licensure as a Superintendent is preferred.  Candidates may also explain their ability to secure MN Superintendent licensure by June 30, 2024. Previous experience as a superintendent is preferred but not required.

Job Summary
The Licensed School Health Associate will assist the professional staff in the total implementation of the Health Services program.

Essential Functions
The Licensed School Health Associate is an RN or LPN.  At no time should they be expected to provide professional service or substitute for a licensed school nurse.  The Licensed School Health Associate will confer with the Licensed School Nurse regarding health issues within the building.  The Licensed School Nurse will delegate any nursing responsibilities to the Licensed School Health Associate as appropriate.

2023-24 Speech Language Pathologist Long Term Sub, 1.0 FTE, Dates: 12/15/23-3/11/24
