POSITION SUMMARY:
Provide academic and goal-based learning experiences that enhance student progress across all settings.
PRIMARY JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Contribute to and participate in the building student support teams.
- Serve as an IEP case manager for D/HH students.
- Collaborate and develop recommendations with students’ IEP teams.
- Facilitate team meetings to review student progress and develop IEP’s as related to student needs.
- Plan and implement appropriate educational programs for D/HH individuals.
- Implement educational plans as described on individual IEP (IIP/IFSP) and train building staff as needed.
- Maintain appropriate records and reports. Collect data on progress on goals and objectives for each student and meet mandated timelines.
- Develop, coordinate, and evaluate work related experience and community experiences for students, when applicable.
- Provide work direction to paraprofessional staff members and interpreters.
- Communicate effectively with students, families, educators, and administrators regarding student programs and progress.
- Collaborate with students, families, related service providers, outside agencies and other team members to promote growth of each student.
- Work cooperatively with general education teachers and staff and provide building consultation, support and training as needed.
- Create and maintain a professional working relationship with families and staff.
- Obtain and demonstrate knowledge of general education curriculum including the grade level outcomes and state standards.
- Participate in curriculum development and main professional competence through building and District level staff development activities and D/HH selected professional growth activities.
- Conduct assessments, comprehensive report results and follow Minnesota state criteria in area(s) of D/HH eligibility.
- Develop lesson plans and instructional materials to provide individualized and/or small group instruction.
- Teach staff and students on the care and maintenance of auditory equipment.
- Teacher self-advocacy skills to students.
- Train staff on adaptations and modifications needed for D/HH students in the general education classrooms.
- Implement the Minnesota State Standards and the District Graduation Requirements.
