Marketing and Outreach Specialist (emphasis on Early Childhood and Family Education program)

Job Summary: Develop, implement and monitor integrated marketing strategies that bring scholars and families into the district’s Early Childhood & Family Education (EC&FE) program. Strong writing, design and interpersonal skills are essential. Successful candidates will be strategic thinkers, inquisitive and have the ability to produce high-quality work under deadline.

Responsibilities and tasks include:
Research and analyze trends in the educational market to help define the program’s marketing strategies.
Bring the district and program’s marketing strategies to fruition using a variety of communication and marketing tools, including, but not limited to, print materials, e-newsletters, websites, social media platforms, print and digital advertising platforms, presentations, and community outreach efforts.
Formulate high-quality marketing materials from concept to completion.
Write for a variety of channels and audiences in a creative, clear, call-to-action fashion.
Ensure marketing materials meet established branding standards and consistency in style, tone and quality.
Plan and coordinate events and activities that are part of the program’s marketing strategies.
Work closely with program and volunteer coordinators to build and support the Early Childhood Parent Teacher Organization.
Participate in community outreach events and activities alongside the district and community engagement teams, e.g. hosting a table at a fair.
Develop and implement ways to reach diverse populations.
Influence customer service to staff families first interact with.
Collaborate with teams to develop and monitor marketing strategies, especially Community Relations, Community Education, Family and Community Engagement, the Enrollment Center and Human Resources.
Gather, interpret and evaluate data in relation to the performance and efficiency of the program’s marketing strategies.
Readjust marketing strategies, as needed, to ensure goals are met.

Minimum qualifications include:
Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business or related field, plus three years of related professional experience. Experience working with educational institutions and/or knowledge of the Osseo Area Schools community preferred. Must be able to work some weekend or evening hours and travel between school buildings as part of the job.

Knowledge, skills and abilities include:
Knowledge of the principles and practices of marketing as well as advertising and community outreach.
Creating integrated marketing strategies that are data-driven and reach goals.
Strong in design and desktop publishing; website editing and social media posting; and digital photography and videography.
Proficient using current technology required for the performance of duties, including Adobe or similar products for desktop publishing, website editing, photography and videography; Google Ads, Facebook Ads and more for digital advertising; Facebook Analytics, Instagram Analytics and more for data analysis; and Google Suite or similar products for word processing, spreadsheet and presentation software.
Event planning and coordination.
Communicating effectively, orally and in writing, to a variety of audiences.
Experience and comfort building new relationships.
Effectively interacting with diverse (racially, culturally, linguistically) individuals and groups in a variety of settings.
Effectively collaborating with Community Relations, Community Education, Family and Community Engagement, the Enrollment Center and Human Resources team members as well as other departments and employees.
Ability to be resourceful and self-directed.
Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks.
Ability to be a critical thinker with professional judgment. This includes the ability to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems; and to consider the relative costs and benefits of potential actions in order to choose the most appropriate one.
Adaptability and flexibility to meet extenuating circumstances.

Who we are:
Osseo Area Schools Adult Basic Education (ABE) is looking for a teacher to provide instruction in its program starting for the fall of 2023. Our school serves nearly 1,000 students age 17 and older each year. Our students come from over 60 countries and speak nearly 50 languages. 95% of our students self-identify as a person of color. We are a student-centered program, with classes in core content areas as well as technology and workplace skills. We are located in the heart of Brooklyn Center, MN, at the Northwest Family Service Center, and collaborate with our social services building partners to provide support to our learners to be successful in class as well as in the community.

Job Summary:
To inspire and prepare each and every scholar with the confidence, courage, and competence to achieve their dreams; contribute to community; and engage in a lifetime of learning. Provide instruction and support in the curriculum areas for which employed; make appropriate and equitable use of instructional resources and technologies; implement the goals and objectives of the district, school and/or program for which employed; maintain contact and communication with guardians/caregivers of scholars, working with them in the development of their scholar; design, deliver, and assess curriculum according to district guidelines; provide in-person, synchronous and asynchronous learning when applicable and work collaboratively with others. Willing to participate in district and building leadership activities.

The teacher in this position will teach a class of up to 20 adults Tuesday and Thursday evening from 5:30-8:30 pm as our EL Level C (evening) Instructor. Teachers in our program receive 30 minutes of prep and non-contact time for every hour of direct instruction to attend meetings, prepare for class, and complete other professional duties.

Our EL Level D instruction is Level C standard content in reading, writing, speaking and listening. using the CCRS (College and Career Readiness Standards), ACES/TIF and NSDL (Northstar Digital Literacy).

Independent judgment is required to plan, prioritize, organize and carry out a diversified workload, and make recommendations for changes in office practices or procedures.

 

Job Summary: The essential functions of this position include, but are not limited to, the following fundamental job duties:

Acting as liaison between parent(s), student(s), guardian(s), community and site/department staff
