Summary:
This position requires leadership in developing vision, implementation, and planning for sustainability of our Setting IV 18-21 year old transition program for students with special education needs.  The position also requires effective collaboration with other administrators.  The Special Education Supervisor plans, organizes and manages the programming and services provided at our transition program.  The position includes supervising and supporting the licensed staff and unlicensed staff at all identified locations.
Major Areas of Accountability:

Manage and supervise staff including recruiting, screening, interviewing and hiring staff
Monitor due process procedures, program entrance and exit decisions
Evaluate program effectiveness as well as receiving necessary changes to promote effective programs for the target population including: program design and philosophy; curriculum and instructional methodology; material and technical resources; staff development activities; program evaluations; and interagency activities.
Complete performance appraisals of licensed and unlicensed staff
Collect and maintain information necessary for the completion of local, state and federal reports
Collect and maintain information necessary to determine staffing needs
Provide leadership and direction to staff with regard to conflicts between staff, parents, students and agency workers.
Direct disciplinary action to ensure a safe school environment and guard due process rights of students
Monitor budget expenditures for assigned programs
Oversee special education transportation requests and program changes for students with disabilities
Promote internal and external awareness of program services
Effectively work with district and building personnel to develop and implement strategies to achieve student and building goals.
Other duties as assigned by the Director of Student Services

11. Leaving clear and complete instructions for substitutes.
12. Following curriculum and policies approved by the Board.
13. Cooperating in evaluation of present curriculum.
14. Recommending possible revision of curriculum.

16. Communicating professionally and respectfully with students, staff, parents, and community members, using oral, written, and electronic means.

Paraprofessional: Structured Learning Center – Learner Support

Osseo Area Schools is pleased to offer an online training course for substitute teachers that hold a short-call license! This training will improve your skills in classroom management and teaching strategies and increase student performance. The 6-10 hour course of study includes an assessment test for substitutes to take at the end of the course. Upon successful completion, substitutes will receive a Sub Diploma.

 

Substitute – Special Education Educational Support Professionals (JobID: 27480)

General Purpose of Job: To inspire and prepare each and every scholar with the confidence, courage, and competence to achieve their dreams; contribute to community; and engage in a lifetime of learning. In the absence of the classroom educational support professional (ESP), the substitute ESP supports the classroom teacher in instruction, encouraging student progress, and managing the learning environment.

PRIMARY FUNCTION: Filling in for absent regular ESP to assist special education teachers and students in the classroom.

The essential functions of this position include, but are not limited to, the following fundamental job duties:

Assist in the implementation of the students’ special education instructional plan(s) including physical and behavioral management. This may include feeding, toileting, and diapering students, based on students’ special needs.

Assist in the implementation and follow-through of the students’ individual plans in all settings in which the program is delivered and as assigned by the supervising teacher.

Assist in the preparation, collection and maintenance of educational materials and equipment.

Complete educational forms, reports and other student related data relevant to the individual student(s) in the special education program as directed by the special education teacher.

Any other duties deemed necessary by the team and approved by the Special Education Coordinator or Special Education Supervisor.

Salary: $15/hr; Retirees (10+ of instructional support experience) $19/hr
