POSITION:

Full-Time Night Custodian – Float Districtwide – 8 hours/day

***Summer hours are 7 AM – 3:30 PM; resume regular hours mid-August.***

Regular hours: 3 PM to 11:30 PM – 260 days per year – Monday thru Friday

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

1. High School degree, GED, or equivalent.

2. Demonstrated knowledge of building cleaning skills.

3. Demonstrated positive customer service skills.

4. At least one (1) year of experience in a school custodial position and or equivalent custodial experience.

5. Experienced in basic P.C. operation relating to email, internet, and work order systems.

6. Capable of working cooperatively and congenially with other employees and supervisors.

7. Understanding of and ability to act as a confidential employee regarding staff and students.

8. Motivated, energetic, timely, respectful and a strong proven work ethic.

 

REPORTS TO: Head Custodian, Building Principal, and Director of Buildings and Grounds Operations as situationally appropriate.

 

JOB GOAL: To provide for the safe operation and completion of assigned duties to maintain a comfortable and safe environment for students, teachers, other staff personnel and community.

 

Working Conditions:

All employees subject to hazards are equipped and trained per OSHA standards.

Subject to work with biohazard waste.

Subject to temperature changes while performing assigned duties.

May be required to work in extreme hot and cold temperatures.

Subject to the hazards, dust and odors from sanding and painting procedures.

Subject to the hazards, vapors, and odors from various cleaning chemicals.

May be subject to work in the vicinity of chronic hazardous materials i.e., asbestos.

May be subject to work with hazardous chemicals.

Subject to work from elevated work surfaces.

 

Physical Demands:

All employees subject to physical demands are equipped and trained per OSHA standards.

Be able to lift 50 pounds using proper lifting techniques.

Be able to lift 100 pounds, with assistance, using proper lifting techniques or equipment.

Able to sit or stand for extended periods of time.

Be able to bend body and arms in all directions to lift and move objects and to perform custodial duties.

Be able to ascend and descend a ladder while performing custodial duties.

Bend body at waist downward and forward to perform custodial duties.

Bend both legs and knees to kneel or place knees on concrete, vinyl, tile, and carpet surfaces.

Extend hands and arms in all directions to perform custodial duties.

Use upper and lower extremities to perform custodial duties, and upper extremities to handle custodial equipment, shovel snow and push and open doors.

Use hands to select appropriate keys, insert into locks, turn doorknobs, and open doors.

Answer, communicate and dial the telephone and use 2-way radio in clear, precise voice.

Personally respond quickly to emergency situations in all areas of the building, assess each situation and take appropriate action.

Have the physical ability to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as needed.

Perform work in high areas, such as, hoists and ladders.

 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Dusts, vacuums, empties trash and recycling, sweeps, mops, scrubs and/or cleans classrooms, offices, restrooms, hallways, entries, doors, windows, gyms and cafeterias, and stocks necessary supplies, etc…

2. Maintains cleanliness of chairs, desks, lockers, trash cans, carpets, hard floors, and equipment as part of a custodial routine or by special request.

3. Sets up equipment (i.e.: chairs, bleachers) for community education classes, sporting events, concerts, meetings, or other special events (indoors and outdoors). Checks building calendar, work orders and/or checks directly with supervisor to determine what equipment and service level is needed. Takes down equipment, coordinates cleaning of spaces used and locks up after event.

4. Performs light building and equipment maintenance.

5. Communicates the need for repairs to his/her supervisor.

6. Performs routine grounds maintenance (i.e.: shoveling snow, mowing)

7. Secures building at night, setting alarms, and locking doors and windows. Opens and closes building for special events.

8. Collaborates with other personnel in unloading freight trucks of food, paper, and supplies.

9. Maintains proficiency level in all required District, Health and Safety, and custodial trainings.

10. Maintains all licensure required by employee bargaining contract and State.

11. Employee is responsible to be knowledgeable about all District policy.

WAGES: $23.78 plus shift pay of $ .38 = $24.16/hr – As per the current custodial master agreement.  During the summer, no shift pay.

Qualifications:
● BA/BS degree in early childhood education or related field
● Valid teaching license in Parent and Family Education and/or Early Childhood Education
● Knowledge of and commitment to community education mission
● Demonstrate customer and human relations skills
● Demonstrate supervisory experience.
● Ability to work independently and prioritize work assignments, meet deadlines, and maintain confidentiality
● Skill in identifying and responding to community needs and concerns

Reports to: Director of Community Education

Job Goals: Coordinate a comprehensive program that provides ECFE, School Readiness Preschool and parent education to district residents.

Performance Responsibilities:
● Promote and communicate a positive image of Centennial Schools and the Community Education department with internal and external customers.
● Plan and implement early childhood programs in accordance with policies, philosophies and goals of Community Education, Early Childhood, and Centennial School District.
● Plan and deliver programs and services for families with children aged birth to five. Oversee day-to-day operations and monitor implementation and evaluation of programming.
● Recruit, interview, select, supervise, schedule, and evaluate preschool staff and administrative assistant.. Work with the Human Resources Department for consultation regarding staffing, investigations and discipline issues. Plan and manage ECFE/SR/ECS budgets, including ordering supplies
● Complete ECFE/SR/ECS state reports and submit them to the Community Education Director, Superintendent, and MN Department of Education.
● Plan, implement, and participate in staff development and attend educational meetings, seminars and workshops.
● Represent Centennial Early Childhood on district, county, and statewide committees.
● Attend educational meetings, conferences and workshops related to early childhood.
● Oversee the preparation of essential program, class, event, and workshop information for publication in newsletters, brochures and flyers to market early childhood programs
● Facilitate staff meetings for early childhood staff
● Support the coordination of parent education activities and special events district-wide including on-site activities and early childhood field trips.
● Collaborate with Early Childhood Special Education for student placements, inclusion and co-teaching, implementation of grants, student needs, IEPs, etc. Service all students with IEPs to ensure accommodations and inclusion plans are followed in partnership with ECSE.
● Partner with area private preschools and daycare centers to share resources
● Serve as an early childhood representative at the district level when working with the Teaching & Learning Department, special education, K-12 administration and staff, family advocates, and business office.
● Perform program outreach by seeking out and collaborating with other service providers, businesses, parks and recreation, non-profit organizations, and K-12 staff
● Work with Director of Community Education and other staff members in areas such as ongoing needs assessment, surveys, program evaluations, budgets, program and events planning and implementation, and policy development.
● Show proficiency in student management systems including Eleyo (monitoring enrollment and supervision of the registration process), ELSA (management and invoicing of Early Learning Scholarships), School Messenger, Schoology, and Infinite Campus (student information and attendance).
● Coordinate Prek-3rd grade alignment.
● Approve leave time and timesheets and monitor unfilled absences and subbing
● Oversee the implementation and use of Minnesota state approved curriculum and assessment for preschool and make changes as necessary.
● Maintain and submit Parent Aware rating applications, Pathway Early Learning Scholarship applications, and grants (including the Early ID grant) to appropriate county and state entities.
● Report screening data to the MN Department of Education
● Collaborate with family advocate and liaisons to offer equitable services to all families
● Perform other related functions as assigned by the Director of Community Education or other designated representative.

Physical Requirements
Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, hear, operate a computer and other office equipment, reach with hands and arms and must occasionally lift and/or move up to 35 pounds. Position may require a significant amount of walking or standing in order to work directly with children.

Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually.

Counselor Supporting Restorative Practices

This position 1.0 FTE, based at Wildwood Elementary and O.H Anderson Elementary.  Salary and benefits part of the Teacher Master Agreement.

Minimum Requirements:

Must have a valid MN Counselor or licensed School Social Worker, or able to obtain the appropriate license from PELSB, Professional Educator Licensing and Standards Board.  Board Certified Behavior Analyst preferred.

Qualifications:

  • Must demonstrate strong knowledge and skills in areas of restorative practices
  • Successful experience supporting students and staff through positive behavioral interventions
  • Ability to support student behavior to ensure a safe, supportive, equitable and culturally responsive learning environment
  • Demonstrate effectiveness in working with students and families of diverse racial and economic backgrounds
  • Experience as an elementary school counselor is preferred.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide instruction and clear communication in the curriculum area
  • Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students and use information to adjust teaching strategies
  • Promote student-student and staff-student relationship building
  • Collaborate with building administration to plan and implement building-wide restorative practice

Job Summary
This position cleans and maintains designated areas of building to ensure a clean, pleasant and safe environment for employees, students, and the general public.

Job Functions

Vacuum, mop and sweep designated areas of building.
Collect and remove all trash, shredding and recycling in assigned areas.
Clean restrooms and locker rooms as assigned.
Clean windows, doors and mirrors in entry ways and other areas as assigned.
Clean carpets, stairways and floors as assigned.
Dust furniture and equipment.
Clean and disinfect cafeteria tables, counter tops and conference room tables
Report any issues with equipment or materials to supervisor.
Lock up building or designated area as required.
Move furniture, set up for events as needed.
Snow removal.
Follow district cleaning procedures and standard safety procedures, including using personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
Substitute for building engineer as requested.
Prompt, regular and reliable attendance.
