School Psychologist/MTSS Specialist

Effective immediately, the Human Resources Department will accept online applications for the position of School Psychologist/MTSS Specialist for the 2023-24 school year.  We offer a competitive salary and benefits package.  Salary placement is based on education and experience as indicated in the Teachers’ Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Job Summary
Lead the implementation of a school-wide multi-tiered system of support (MTSS) model consistent with the district framework to ensure: high quality instruction and preventative interventions, assessment practices are applied across all levels of the system for a deeper understanding of each student’s needs and alignment of resources and supports necessary for each student’s academic and social-emotional success.

Conduct special education evaluations, including problem identification, assessment selection and administration, result interpretation and team eligibility decisions, and documentation according to state and federal requirements and relevant ethical guidelines. Provide support, assistance and consultation to teachers in addressing assessment needs of students who may have a disability. Provide intellectual, behavioral and occasional academic assessments. Participate in IEP meetings and facilitate communication between staff and families as necessary.

Job Functions

Conduct special education evaluations, including problem identification, assessment selection and administration, result interpretation and team eligibility decisions, and documentation according to state and federal requirements and relevant ethical guidelines
Support delivery of some special education services as specified in Individual Education Plans, by conducting individual or group intervention and consulting with general and special education colleagues
Coordinate SRT (Student Response Team/), including scheduling, record keeping, permissions, and data management,
Coordinate and implement Tier I (general education via consultation) and Tier II interventions for individual or groups of students, including appropriate assessment and progress monitoring
Analyze assessment and intervention data and develop data-based decision-making protocols across tiers of service delivery
Assist with staff training and supervision of staff providing tiered services and interventions
Assist in selection, administration, and/or interpretation of assessments (e.g., Minnesota Comprehensive Assessment data, universal screening data, etc.) to inform instruction or fulfill other school needs
Conduct analyses or research as needed to support decision-making, evaluate effectiveness of programs or interventions, etc.
Cultivate and develop inclusive and equitable working relationships with all students, staff, families and community members.
Demonstrate prompt, regular and reliable attendance
Other duties as assigned

Math Teacher – (Licensed Staff – Grades 9 – 12), Part-time (3 days/week – M/W/F OR T/TH/F)

Student Management Specialist (Brooklyn Middle School)

Description:   A Student Management Specialist uses restorative practices to build and maintain relationships between students, teachers, and parents. They help students to grow and to improve behavior while creating individual interventions for students. They also plan for and maintain school-wide systems, structures, and discipline. They are ambassadors for our community and believe passionately in the potential of our students.

Job Summary: 

  • Assists principal in the overall administration of the middle school program;
  • Performs as a resource for teachers and staff who express concerns for student attendance, student development and/or discipline;
  • Coordinates efforts with guidance, police liaison officer(s), school psychologist, and/or social worker in meeting with students and parents to discuss improving student attendance and/or behavior;
  • Consults with families via conference or communication systems concerning student attendance and behavior;
  • Resolves student behavior concerns in a fair and timely manner and maintains records of disciplinary or referral actions taken;
  • Closely monitors the physical plant of the schools and grounds and follows-up on student vandalism;
  • Assists in the interpretation of school district programs relating to student substance abuse and truancy;
  • Makes recommendations for appropriate revisions of policies and rules effecting student behavior;
  • Assists in discussing strategies to improve student performance, attendance and development;
  • Assists in developing and administering practices dealing with campus control and security;
  • Maintains active relationships with parents, families and students;
  • Assists in establishing rules governing students sent to the in-school suspension/detention room;
  • Responds to written and oral communication regarding student development and discipline matters;
  • Serves as a member of such committees and attends such meetings as directed by the principal;
  • Assumes responsibility when all administrators are out of the building;
  • Performs other tasks and assumes responsibilities within the overall scope of the position which the principal may assign.

Ice Arena Maintenance Supervisor

POSITION TITLE: Maintenance Supervisor

REPORTS TO: Ice Arena Manager

POSITION SUMMARY: The position is responsible for the maintenance of the Ice Arena. All aspects of facility maintenance: refrigeration system, ice surface maintenance, ice resurfacer maintenance, HVAC systems, plumbing, general repairs and the general cleanliness of the facility are the primary responsibility of the Maintenance Supervisor.

This is a full-time (40-45 hours/week) position.

ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS:
1. Operate and maintain all ice maintenance equipment including ice resurfacer and ice edger.
2. Maintain ice surface to high standards by measuring, edging, shaving, and troubleshooting on a regular basis.
3. Recommend repairs or replacement of facility fixtures.
4. Perform cleaning and maintenance duties of indoor facility, perform general outside maintenance of facility.
5. Assist in training new employees in areas of ice maintenance, pro-shop duties, nightly shift duties, and safety practices.
6. Supervise the evening operations of the Sports Arena including high school games, tournaments, cleanup, and concession staff in Managers absence.
7. Assign general cleaning and repair tasks for part-time personnel.
8. Assist in managing event ticketing and concession operations in Managers absence.
9. Maintain appropriate inventory levels for custodial supplies.
10. Operate and maintain skate sharpening equipment.
11. Insure compliance with Minnesota Department of Health concerning air quality including: certifications, permits, and inspections.
12. Analyze and evaluate arena procedures to determine effectiveness, suggest needs for improvement or change.
13. Support and enforce facility policies, procedures, and safety rules.
14. Assist in any other duties as assigned by the Arena Manager

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
1) General
a) 6+ months experience in ice maintenance or heavy machinery operation and maintenance
b) Valid driver’s license
c) Must be able to pass criminal background check
2) Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
a) Knowledge of mechanical maintenance, ice maintenance, and general custodial.
b) Skill in maintenance and minor repair of buildings and grounds.
c) Ability to supervise and direct part-time staff

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
1) Vocational training in facility maintenance and one year of facility maintenance experience.
2) Display mechanical aptitude appropriate to the various mechanical systems in an ice arena.
3) One year experience in ice maintenance and employee management

WORK ENVIRONMENT/REQUIREMENTS:
A. Working Conditions:
Indoors, 55-70 degrees, sweatshirt or light coat typically needed, wet areas and floors common, slippery conditions on ice surface.
B. Physicals Demands:
Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds. Walking, kneeling, and bending over is required. Some sitting down for office work is also required.
C. Work Hours and Schedules:
Work hours are typically 9 AM – 5 PM. Some evening and weekend shifts will be required during events.
