Elementary Teacher – STEM Specialist

Position is a full-time, part of the teacher bargaining unit and based at Wildwood Elementary, grades K-2.  Salary and benefits part of Master Agreement

Minimum Requirements:

Must have a valid MN Elementary Education teaching license, Science licensure or emphasis is preferred, or able to obtain the appropriate license from PELSB, Professional Educator Licensing and Standards Board.

Qualifications:

  • Must exhibit strong STEM knowledge and experience with teaching elementary STEM
  • Must have a passion for outdoor education, knowledge of flora and fauna,  and be willing to teach outdoors during all the seasons
  • Must have knowledge of technology including coding, robotics, and use of SEESAW
  • Must have strong planning, organization, and collaboration skills with a desire to create innovative STEM opportunities for students
  • Previous experience with science at the elementary level preferred
  • Proven leadership skills and the ability to build relationships with students, colleagues, and community
    Excellent communication skills with students, parents and staff

Responsibilities:

  • Identify the needs of students through formal and informal assessments
  • Plan, develop and implement appropriate lessons to ensure the achievement of student growth
  • Communicate with students, parents and staff on regular basis on student progress
  • Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students and use information to adjust teaching strategies
  • Foster a community where all people are valued, respected, seen and heard
  • Inspire robust academics, critical and creative thinking and continuous personal growth
  • Create world-class learning experiences that integrate multiple perspectives
  • Update all necessary records accurately as required by laws, district policies and school regulations
  • Attend department, school and parent meetings or functions
  • Other job-related duties as assigned

12. Following curriculum and policies approved by the Board.
13. Cooperating in evaluation of present curriculum.

16. Communicating professionally and respectfully with students, staff, parents, and community members, using oral, written, and electronic means.

1. Participating actively in inservice programs.
2. Keeping abreast of professional developments in his/her particular area and in education as a whole.
3. Exploring new teaching techniques as alternatives to better accomplish predetermined instructional objectives.

Minimum Requirements:
Minimum of bachelor’s degree and a Special Education teaching license with LD or EBD experience preferred.  Must have strong communication skills and previous experience preferred working with IEP goals and the ability to meet critical deadlines.

Job Summary:

Responsible for providing an educational environment that will help students with disabilities in learning and fulfill their growth potential.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Identify the needs of assigned students with disabilities through formal and informal assessments
  • Plan, develop and implement appropriate lessons to ensure the achievement of student growth
  • Communicate with students, parents and staff on a regular basis on student progress
  • Write IEP’s (Individual Educational Plans) and Due Process reports in accordance to MDE regulations
  • Attend department, school and parent meetings
  • Other job-related duties as assigned
