JOB GOAL:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Professional Skills – The teacher is expected to establish procedures of management to allow a maximum of learning and a minimum of disciplinary action by:
1. Planning and organizing effectively.
2. Demonstrating competency in his/her area.
3. Creating and maintaining an atmosphere conducive to learning.
4. Providing opportunities for individual differences.
5. Making provisions for individual differences.
6. Encouraging the development of independent work habits.
7. Using appropriate language for students to model.
8. Using varied and appropriate instructional techniques to accomplish predetermined instructional objectives.

Professional Relationships: The teacher is expected to establish and maintain a professional relationship with students by:
1. Encouraging respect for the rights, opinions, property, and contributions of others.
2. Being sensitive to factors which affect pupil achievement and behavior.
3. Being available for extra help.
4. Using methods of management that result in desired changes in behavior.
5. Communicating and maintaining a working relationship with parents.
6. Maintaining confidentiality with respect to students and their records.
7. Refraining from personal criticism of staff to students.
8. Avoiding use of position for commercial gain.

The teacher is expected to establish and maintain a professional relationship with fellow staff members by:
9. Cooperating with other staff members.
10. Consulting with co-workers in evaluating and meeting student needs.
11. Leaving clear and complete instructions for substitutes.
12. Following curriculum and policies approved by the Board.
13. Cooperating in evaluation of present curriculum.
14. Recommending possible revision of curriculum.
15. Being proficient or distinguished in all areas listed on the Teacher Performance Evaluation.
16. Communicating professionally and respectfully with students, staff, parents, and community members, using oral, written, and electronic means.
17. Attending work regularly.
18. Performing other duties as assigned.

Professional Development: The teacher is expected to demonstrate professional development by:
1. Participating actively in inservice programs.
2. Keeping abreast of professional developments in his/her particular area and in education as a whole.
3. Exploring new teaching techniques as alternatives to better accomplish predetermined instructional objectives.

Special Education Coordinator – Secondary

This position oversees special education services at the secondary level.  MVPS has 5 secondary schools.  We provide a continuum of services throughout our secondary schools including some Setting 3 center based programming.

Located approximately nine miles north of the downtown areas of Minneapolis and St. Paul, Mounds View Public Schools (District 621) provides instructional services for children and adult learners who live in the cities of Arden Hills, Mounds View, New Brighton, North Oaks, Roseville, Shoreview and Vadnais Heights.

To maintain a safe and clean environment for students and staff.  Job involves primarily cleaning

responsibilities.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

WAGES:

As per the current custodial master agreement.  Starting at $24.16/hr.

Position
School Readiness Preschool Teacher- Early Childhood Center
8:15 AM – 4:15 PM

Provide high-quality early childhood education to children in our full-day Centennial Preschool program. Applicants should demonstrate a love for teaching, passion for serving early childhood students and families, and ability to successfully communicate with parents and fellow staff members.

Reports To: School Readiness Preschool Coordinator

Job Description and Performance Responsibilities
1. Using district and program instructional procedures, provide preschool education to children in the assigned classroom. This includes implementation of social-emotional strategies and supports, assessment, curriculum, and instruction
2. Attend professional development provided by the district and program, including workshops, presentations, coaching sessions, staff meetings, and Professional Learning Communities; implement the learning in instructional practice
3. Develop strong relationships with children to promote learning and partnerships with parents/caregivers to promote family engagement; conduct parent-teacher conferences and on-going communication with families
4. Collaborate with colleagues in a variety of ways, including planning instruction and collaborative teaching in an inclusive setting
5. Direct and delegate paraprofessionals in supporting the classroom
6. Complete and submit all required program records, assessments, and data according to timelines; record children’s skills in areas of language, physical, social, and emotional development
7. Promote a positive image of Centennial Schools and the Centennial Preschool program and contribute to a positive, respectful, professional working environment
8. Demonstrate regular attendance, arrive on time, and follow assigned work schedule correctly
9. Provide a safe, nurturing educational environment for children, including those with special needs
10. Collaborate with parent educators who plan and implement parent education opportunities for families
11. Plan field trips and on-site activities throughout the year
12. Collaborate with district lead and kindergarten teachers to ensure pre-K and K alignment
13. Meet with the supervisor on a regular basis/as needed to discuss curriculum plans, classroom needs, etc.
14. Participate in staff meetings.
15. Assists in other capacities as determined by the supervisor and/or director.

Required Qualifications
• Holds current, valid Minnesota Teaching License in early childhood, B-3 or Pre-primary.
• Bachelor’s degree in one of the following: Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Child and Family Studies, or other programs of similar focus and content
• Holds a current certification in First Aid and Child CPR, or is willing to obtain before they start the position
• Has knowledge of child development and best practices in early childhood care
• Demonstrates successful skills in organization, verbal and written communication, and working with children and families of diverse backgrounds
• Must be able to lift up to 35 lbs. in connection with the handling of children for the facilitation of programs, child safety, and potential emergency situations

Preferred Qualifications
• A minimum of one year experience in an preschool/early childhood classroom
• Experience working in inclusive settings
• Training and experience in early childhood evidence-based practices.
• Knowledge of the school district
• Knowledge of Google Drive
• Knowledge of Creative Curriculum for Preschool, the DRDP assessment tool, IGDIs assessment tool, and/or Pyramid Model framework

Salary and Benefits: Salary according to the Centennial teacher contract. Prorated benefits.
