REPORTS TO:

Superintendent

 

PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:

·        A Bachelor’s degree

·        K-12 ESL license

·        Prior successful experience in a K-8 urban, multicultural education is desirable

·        Knowledge of subject matter, classroom management techniques as well as students’ learning styles and needs, both academic and affective

·        Oral and written Hmong skills preferred but not required

 

PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

·        Undertakes any instructional role under the direction of the School Principal

·        Provides direct instruction to individual students or small groups, provided that the teacher has prepared lessons with: objectives, teaching strategies, and evaluation criteria

·        Reinforce and assist with lessons and follow-up assignments

·        Assist classroom teacher with the creating and presentation of lesson plans

·        Collaboratively plan and implement instruction designed to accommodate student differences.

·        Provide feedback to teachers and students regarding the student’s learning

·        Actively participate in the professional development process to achieve and provide support for job-embedded professional development

·        Demonstrates empathy, rapport and personal interactions among students, peers, and other adults

·        Monitor student performance using a variety of informal assessment tools and provide corrective feedback as directed

·        Implement instruction in ways that encourage student learning

·        Accommodate student differences with clear and appropriate oral directions and assignments

·        Organize the physical facilities of the classroom as directed

·        Know the subject matter

·        Know and use strategies that foster thinking, reasoning, and problem solving

·        Share expertise and knowledge with others

·        Collaborate with parent/families, when directed, in making educational decisions

·        Give and receive feedback in a positive manner

·        Support district, school and classroom expectations through positive reinforcement

·        Performs other comparable duties of a like or similar nature as assigned by the Superintendent and/or CEO

 

If appointed as the ESL PLC Lead responsibilities include:

·        Oversee and monitors ESL student achievement on standards development

·        Assists with providing ESL job-embedded professional development

 

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

·        Ability and willingness to keep records and office space organized and easily accessible

·        Considerable ability to follow through in a timely manner

·        Considerable knowledge of and ability to perform classroom management skills, practices and relationship building

·        Considerable skills in teaching others to safely operate office machines and equipment

·        Excellent communication skills and ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing to members of the public, the community, the staff, the students, and the administration

Transportation Specialist

GENERAL PURPOSE:

To perform a variety of cleaning activities in the school’s building and facility; to provide supplies and equipment for the performance of duties. To create a professional environment for the students, staff and the public by maintaining the cleanliness of the school.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

·       High school diploma

·       One year of general work experience

 

PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

·       Empty and clean trash receptacles

·       Sweep and scrub floors; strip, seal, wax, and buff tile floors if necessary

·       Dust and clean office and classroom furniture

·       Hose down ramps, stairwells or other hallways/walkways

·       Clean interior and exterior windows and glass doors

·       Disinfect and clean all bathroom areas

·       Replenish supplies and materials

·       Vacuum traffic areas; spot and shampoo carpets

·       Collect recyclable materials

·       Set out warning signs for wet or slippery areas

·       Performs security checks of the building

·       Move and arrange furniture and equipment for special events and projects

·       Assists with unloading and loading of food and other misc items that may require additional support

·       Assists the kitchen staff with breakfast and lunch needs

·       Assists staff with any inquiries they may need (lifting, moving, arranging, etc…)

·       May assist in maintaining and contacting relationships with janitorial vendors

·       Follows other duties as assigned by senior administration

 

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:

·       Knowledge of basic methods, materials, and equipment used in janitorial work

·       Knowledge of safe work practices

·       Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions

·       Ability to learn janitorial procedures and methods

·       Ability to maintain mental capacity which allows for effective interaction and communications with others

·       Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of the work

ENVIRONMENTAL & PHYSICAL CONDITIONS:

·       Hazards: moving equipment, trip obstacles, dust, fumes, cuts, slippery surfaces, working at heights, exposure to electric shock and toxic or caustic chemicals.

·       Equipment used: floor scrubbers, ladders, hand tools, step stools, vacuum cleaners, carpet cleaners, mops, dust mops, brooms, and other cleaning equipment and supplies.

·       Safety Equipment: safety shoes, eye protection, gloves, and back support belts optional.

·       Standing/walking: Constantly, throughout the work shift.

·       Sitting: infrequently, during breaks and lunch.

·       Lift/carry: frequently, 1-30+ lbs, equipment, supplies, trash.

·       Push/pull: frequently, using both hands and arms while performing cleaning duties, exerting 5-35+ lbs force. Occasionally, moving furniture and materials, exerting a force of 20-45+ lbs.

·       Climbing: infrequently.

·       Bending/twisting/balancing: frequently, at waist, knees, and neck throughout work shift. Some twisting is required, but can be avoided with attention to proper body mechanics.

·       Kneeling/crouching/crawling: infrequently, may be required while cleaning lower areas, retrieving supplies from lower shelves.

·       Hands/arms: constant use in reaching, handling, grasping and using fingers while operating equipment, using hand and power tools, wiping and cleaning surfaces. Overhead reaching may be required throughout shift.

·        A valid Minnesota teaching license, certificate, or other legal credentials required for level of assignment.

·        Demonstrates continued professional development through course work, research, peer collaboration, and/or job-embedded staff development.

·        Working knowledge of the subject matter, classroom management techniques, current researched best practices and strategies, and as well as students’ learning styles and needs, both academic and affective

·        Data driven

 

PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Follow lesson plans provided by the regular Teacher to create a cohesive and consistent learning experience for students
·        Acquires knowledge of the school’s academic programs and expectations/goals; works to support and achieve those goals

·        Establishes developmentally appropriate instructional and behavioral expectations for self and students; communicates them to students and their families

·        Creates lessons and learning environments that are safe, respectful and interesting as well as Multicultural/Gender/Ability Fair; selects, adapts and individualizes materials appropriate for diverse student populations and skills

·        Teaches students the required curricula using strategies that foster thinking, reasoning and problem solving

·        Collaborates and communicates regularly with families in making educational decisions and uses family and community resources to support learning

Transportation Specialist

GENERAL PURPOSE:

To provide students and families with information directly related to transportation. To serve as a conduit between transportation companies and families and ensure that all students abide by school bus policies.

 

PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBIITIES:

·        Greeting all persons in a positive and professional manner

·        Answers and transfers incoming calls; taking messages in a professional manner

·        Assisting with the resolution of parental/student issues related to transportation and/or other inquiries

·        Providing students, staff, families, and the community with information regarding school policies as it relates to transportation

·        Provides the public with information about the school

·        Maintains miscellaneous logs (i.e. visitors, volunteers, student pick-ups)

·        Maintaining and organizing records of misc. data

·        Works closely with and collaborates with staff

·        Assisting other staff as needed

·        Updating student information regarding transportation on Skyward

·        Making sure all changes that impact student transportation is relayed to transportation headquarters

·        Maintaining regular and daily contact with transportation headquarters

·        Resolving issues related to transportation

·        Helps students develop a positive attitude toward school and learning

·        Following additional duties as outlined by senior administration

·        Supervise students in the lunch room while maintaining a clean and orderly lunch period for students

·        Enforce lunch room processes and expectations

·       Collaborate with bus company to organize bus schedules for all students

a.      Collecting all bus information

b.      Making phone calls to parents and/or bus headquarters to ensure proper transportation

c.      Providing families with proper busing information

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

·        Demonstrates quick-decision making, problem-solving skills and resourcefulness

·        Must have the ability to multi-task

·        Must have the ability to work well under strenuous situations

·        Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing to members of the public, staff, students and administration

·        Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to deal with a variety of personality types

·        Excellent team player skills with positive attitude

·        Ability to remain calm in an emergency

·        Ability to think clearly in any situation, determine priorities, and handle multiple tasks

·        Considerable skills in teaching others

·        Considerable knowledge of transportation duties, practices, and procedures

·        Ability to follow through in a timely manner
