JOB DESCRIPTION: Food Service Assistant

– 4.0 hours/day – 175 days/year (includes 4 holidays)

– Starting August 30, 2022

– 9:30 AM – 1:30 PM
Provide support to the cook in preparation and service of food to students in shifts, including clean up between student shifts and after serving is complete. Duties as assigned.

WAGES/BENEFITS: Starting at $15.70

DESCRIPTION:

AVID Tutors – High School East and West Buildings – up to 3 hours per day (during the school day) – 6 hours per week – Tuesdays and Thursdays throughout the school year.  Includes 16 hours of paid training.  Depending on demand, hours could be 8 AM -11 AM.

Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) is a college-preparation system that provides direct support for students in the academic middle, first generation college students, students from cultures underrepresented in college enrollment, and students with special circumstances who have the desire and determination to attend college following high school graduation.  The mission of AVID is to close the achievement gap for students in the academic middle who will succeed in college preparatory coursework and enroll in four-year colleges following high school.

An AVID tutor takes an active role in developing the academic and personal strengths of AVID students.  Under the supervision of the AVID Elective Teacher, tutors are responsible for leading structured tutorials in which small groups of AVID students question and guide classmates in problem-solving activities. During the tutorials the tutors serve as guides and facilitators of students’ learning through questioning, writing, thinking and discussion.  The tutorials occur during the AVID Elective class each Tuesday and Thursday.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

●               High school graduate enrolled in college

●               Possess personal attributes of integrity and respect for others as well as ability to work effectively in collaborative teams and serve as a mentor for high school students

●               Possess strong writing, speaking, and interpersonal communication skill

●               Able to implement goals, lead tutorial groups, manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines

 

SALARY:  $12.00 per hour – no benefits

Benefits Specialist

1. Assists the Insurance Consultant and Executive Director of Human Resources in the development of insurance specifications, and assists in the analysis of bids.
2. Interprets benefit sections in all bargaining unit contracts and determines eligibility. Serves as a resource to the Executive Director of Human Resources during negotiations with employee unions and organizations.
3. Coordinates and conducts the new hire insurance enrollment process, annual open enrollment periods and information sessions for medical and dental insurance plans.
4. Accurately establishes benefit plan deductions for employee payroll.
5. Responsible for accurate on-line enrollments/changes for medical and dental plans for all staff members.
6. Manages the vendor relationship with benefits platform company and serves as system administrator.
7. Effectively serves as a liaison/customer service representative (both verbal and written) between human resources, payroll, principals, directors, office managers, supervisors, employees and insurance companies.
8. Advises employees, retirees and dependents regarding District provided benefits programs.
9. Resolves inquiries to claims discrepancies and benefit questions between staff and the insurance companies.
10. Drafts correspondence to employees, dependents, retirees, providers and carriers.
11. Administers COBRA continuation compliance, Chapter 488 compliance, Long Term Disability claims and Life Insurance claims.
12. Administers HIPPA compliance for Protected Health Information.
13. Researches, analyzes and implements changes in local, state and federal laws and changes in union contract language as they pertain to Benefits administration.
14. Ensures compliance with all ACA requirements, including reporting.
15. Maintain compliance with ADA requirements and ensure consistency with ADA requests and accommodations
16. Administers Workers Compensation program to include claims reporting, lost time tracking, medical services received, Return to Work program and annual audit of premiums.
17. Assists the human resources department with benefit costing for all contract negotiations.
18. Assists the program department heads with benefit costing for budgeting purposes.
19. Efficiently coordinates continuation coverage for Early Retiree benefits, Medicare Supplements and employees on Leaves of Absence.
20. Responsible for payment of insurance bills for all plans.
21. Maintains accurate benefit files and spreadsheets for all District employees to be used for reconciling monthly payments, staffing, negotiations and budgeting.
22. Accurately implements new insurance carrier changes.
23. Contributing member of the District Insurance Committee which reviews insurance plans and makes
changes to meet the needs of the district and employees under a self-insured model.
24. Maintains communications about benefit plans to all participants and eligible persons.
25. Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director of Human Resources.
