Speech & Language Pathologist

1.0 FTE: Speech-Language Pathologist

Position Summary:  The Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) plays a critical role in fostering student communication and language development. This position involves assessing, diagnosing, and treating speech, language, and communication disorders while collaborating with educators, families, and support staff to promote student success.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Valid Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (DPI) License for Speech-Language Pathology
  • Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology or a related field

Preferred:

  • Experience working with school-aged children in an educational setting
  • Familiarity with technology integration and diverse instructional strategies

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Speech-Language Services & Student SupportAssess, diagnose, and provide interventions for students with speech, language, and communication disorders
  • Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and intervention plans
  • Deliver direct therapy services to students in the Least Restrictive Setting; services can be provided in general education classrooms or special education settings to students individually or in small groups
  • Monitor and document student progress, and adjust interventions as needed
  • Utilize evidence-based practices and diverse instructional strategies to enhance student learning
  • Educate and collaborate with families and staff on speech and language development

Collaboration & Professionalism

  • Work closely with teachers, special education staff, and related service providers to support student learning
  • Maintain effective communication with parents/guardians regarding student progress
  • Participate in IEP meetings, multidisciplinary team discussions, and professional development
  • Uphold confidentiality and ethical standards in compliance with federal, state, and district policies

Professional Growth & Development

  • Stay current with best practices and advancements in speech-language pathology
  • Attend required training, workshops, and staff meetings
  • Engage in continuous improvement through collaboration, feedback, and self-reflection
  • Implement innovative teaching techniques and educational strategies

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods
  • Occasional lifting, carrying, or pushing of materials and classroom equipment
  • Ability to communicate effectively in person, via phone, and through electronic means
  • Work is primarily performed in classroom settings, with occasional outdoor supervision and off-site activities

Terms of Employment

  • Contract Length: 192 days per school year
  • Evaluation: Performance evaluations conducted by the Building Principal or Assistant Principal in accordance with Hudson School District Board of Education policies

 

School to Career Coordinator

Qualifications:

  • 93 License Career and Technical Education Coordinator (formally LVEC) preferred
  • Certified Career Technical Education experience preferred
  • Ability to work with administration, guidance, special needs and teaching staff in School to Career initiatives
  • Knowledge of grant writing, program evaluation and state School to Career initiatives
  • Ability to collaborate with the business/industry community on School to Career initiatives
  • Effective public relations skills
  • Good communication and leadership skills

Job Goal: To provide leadership in the development, implementation, articulation, evaluation, and communication of the 6-12 Career Technical Education Program for the School District of Hudson, Wisconsin.

Essential Functions:

  • Facilitates Career Technical Education  curriculum improvement process
  • Leads district Academic Career Planning implementation, including articulated pathways aligned to DPI’s career clusters, ongoing professional development, and lesson development for advisors and other related staff
  • Coordinates District’s work-based learning programs (School-Based Enterprises, and Youth Apprenticeship, On the Job Training)
  • Coordinates articulation agreements and  creates supported pathways with post-secondary education institutions that result in post-secondary credentials
  • Promotes Career Technical Education activities through direct interaction with students, parents, staff, and community members utilizing various means of communication
  • Applies for sources of funding and manages budgets for Career Technical Education initiatives supported by grant work (Carl Perkins and others)
  • Assumes the role of School Based Coordinator for the St. Croix Valley Youth Apprenticeship Consortium
    Coordinates surveys, reports, and follow-up studies as needed by the local, state and federal agencies.
  • Creates broad-based partnerships and Career Technical Education Advisory Councils among employers, labor, education, government, and community organizations to participate in the design, development, and administration of local Career and Technical Education programs
  • Incorporates skill standards and credentialing procedures developed at national, state, and local levels into District Career and Technical Education programming

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

This work regularly requires sitting, standing, walking, speaking, hearing and occasionally requires pushing, pulling, lifting, and operating machines; work has standard vision requirements; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels and to receive detailed information through oral communications and/or to make fine distinctions in sound; work requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data, and observing general surroundings and activities; work is generally in a moderately noisy location (e.g. school offices/classrooms/passageways).

Community Education Program Coordinator

Position Summary:  The Community Education Program Coordinator plays a key role in managing and expanding the Hudson School District’s community education services. This includes before and after school childcare, 4K wrap care, youth and adult enrichment programs, and recreation opportunities. The Coordinator ensures high-quality programming, fosters community partnerships, and enhances learning and recreational experiences for participants of all ages.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in education, community development, recreation management, or a related field (preferred); equivalent work experience may be considered.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in program coordination, education, recreation, or community engagement (preferred).
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage diverse groups and build strong community relationships.
  • Strong problem-solving skills to address program challenges and improve offerings.
  • Proficiency in Google Suite and social media platforms for communication, marketing, and program management.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Lead, supervise, and provide direction for Community Education contracted instructors and School Age Care employees, ensuring high-quality program delivery.
  • Provide ongoing coaching, training, and performance feedback to staff.
  • Establish clear expectations for program instructors and childcare employees, fostering a positive and professional work environment.

Program Development & Management

  • Oversee the planning, development, and continuous improvement of Community Education programs to meet the needs of students, families, and community members.
  • Coordinate logistics, including scheduling, staffing, and resource allocation.
  • Develop and implement safety protocols and supervision procedures for childcare and enrichment programs.
  • Conduct surveys and program assessments to evaluate effectiveness and make data-driven improvements.

Staff Recruitment & Development

  • Recruit, hire, and train Community Education instructors and School Age Care staff.
  • Provide ongoing professional development and mentorship for program staff.
  • Assign tasks and monitor staff performance to ensure program goals are met.

Community Engagement & Marketing

  • Build and maintain strong partnerships with local organizations, businesses, and community leaders to expand program opportunities.
  • Promote programs through social media, newsletters, flyers, and other marketing strategies to increase participation.
  • Collaborate with Student Services and special education staff to develop inclusive programming and support students with special needs in childcare and enrichment activities.

Budget & Operations Management

  • Monitor program revenues and expenditures to ensure financial sustainability.
  • Assist in the development of annual budgets and funding strategies in collaboration with leadership.
  • Keep district administrators and custodial staff informed about facility usage, programming updates, and operational needs.

Community & Family Support

  • Act as the primary point of contact for parents, families, and community members, addressing inquiries, concerns, and complaints in a timely and professional manner.
  • Ensure all staff and instructors adhere to district policies, procedures, and expectations.
  • Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions.

Other Responsibilities

  • Attend and participate in school events, meetings, and professional development opportunities, including some evening hours as needed.
  • Maintain regular, punctual attendance and ensure program consistency.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by school administration.
