About the Special Education Department at Eagle Ridge Academy:

· Average caseload size between 10-15 students

· Separate Special Education licensed staff salary scale

· Average small group or special education class size of 2-6 students

· Student services grouped by subject area and ability level

· Evaluations completed by school psychologist

· Two prep periods

· Due Process secretary (schedules meetings, mails paperwork to families and maintains due process files)

· Professional development opportunities

· Classroom budget

· Special Services Coordinator and Director of Special Services on-site full-time

· IEP meetings scheduled within contract hours

· Department meetings held within contract hours

 

Responsibilities:

· Develops lesson plans and instructional materials and provides individualized and small group instruction

· Collaborates with classroom teachers to adapt materials and curriculum to meet the needs of students with varying backgrounds, learning styles, and special needs while preserving confidentiality.

· Maintains accurate and complete student records including due process requirements for IEP’s, ongoing data collection tools and grades when appropriate

· Provides feedback and guidance to paraprofessionals as needed

· Manage student behavior, which includes developing and implementing classroom rules and expectations, as well as providing appropriate interventions to address behaviors when necessary.

· Communicate with families on a consistent basis on progress towards goals and IEP related concerns.

· Participate in a variety of meetings, which may include parent or guardian conferences, special education briefings, staff and/or committee meetings, staff development sessions, and/or other related meetings.

· Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree and applicable MN teaching license.

Eagle Ridge Academy is searching for a Principal of our School of Grammar to begin July 2025 or sooner if possible.  The ideal candidate will have demonstrated leadership experience and have a passion for the mission and vision of Eagle Ridge Academy.  The School of Grammar leader will be a visionary that will help lead us into the future and be able to stay connected with staff and families.  A balance of strategic and operational leadership required and the ideal candidate will need to lead by being present and visible.  The principal will need to support our current leadership culture of approachability, transparency, trust, and high expectations for self and other. The principal will be an instructional leader who models and teaches and uses data to drive instruction and school improvement.

Eagle Ridge Academy students are expected to grow towards reaching their highest potential.  We expect this also of our staff and leaders.  Leaders should model being a reflective practitioner and lifelong learner.  The principal will be a member of the Executive Director Leadership Team is expected to be collegial and have a belief in shared decision making at the district and school level.  Shared decision making at the school level will include and Assistant Principal and a Leadership Advisory Team comprised of grade level teacher leaders.

Communicate and implement the vision of the school, focusing on academics, character, and leadership.
Conceptualizes the broad goals of the school and plans accordingly to ensure that procedures and schedules are implemented to carry out the total school program.
Provide purpose and direction for staff (directly or indirectly).
Identifies the annual objectives for the instructional, extracurricular, and athletic programs of the school.
In conjunction with leadership team, ensures instructional objectives for a given subject and/or classroom are developed, and involves the faculty and others in the development of specific curricular objectives to meet the needs of the school program.
In conjunction with leadership team, evaluates student progress in the instructional program.
Maintains inter-school system communication.  Assists in improving performance.
Plans and submits annual budget; monitors ongoing expenses.

BehaviorOpenly communicate with staff and parents/guardians regarding student behavior and appropriate consequences.
Collaborate with the school counselor and personnel to create and maintain research-based behavioral interventions and train faculty and staff in those interventions.
Attend appropriate meetings regarding student growth and success (IEP and 504 case conferences, parent meetings, expulsion hearings, etc.).
Compile, analyze, and share student discipline data regularly, and use that data to make decisions.

External RelationsEstablish and maintain open and supportive environment for communication with staff and constituents (Board, Administration, parents, families, students).

Minimum Requirements
Education: Education and experience necessary to possess certification from the State of Minnesota for Principal Licensure
Certification: A valid Minnesota teaching license and/or valid Minnesota administrative license or ability to be licensed by start of the school year

· Low Caseload- average caseload 15 students, provide services for average of 30 students’ total

· 3:1 service delivery model

· No supervision duties

· Due Process Clerk- who handles all IEP meeting scheduling, filing and mailing of due process paperwork

· Supply budget

Responsibilities

· Screen, identify, assess, and diagnose disorders of communication including articulation, voice, language, and fluency. Use state eligibility criteria to make decisions regarding service eligibility.

· Provide treatment and intervention, including consultation and follow-up to children, from four to eighteen years of age, diagnosed with communication disorders.

· Determine specific, reasonable, and appropriate goals and objectives and measure treatment outcomes through a program of periodic monitoring and data collection.

· Counsel students and their families/caregivers and other service providers regarding specific communication disorders and their management; make referrals when appropriate.

· Select, prescribe and provide services supporting effective use of assistive technology devices and other forms of augmentative and alternative communication.

· Serve as case manager and advocate for the students served.

· Collaborate with other professionals.

· Use communication skills that take into consideration the communication needs and cultural values of others.

· Promotes and carries out a problem-solving process with teachers and other staff regarding speech and language concerns.

· Research evidence-based practices to provide solutions in a problem-solving process.

· Collaborates with regular education teacher(s) or other staff as assigned for the purpose of communicating information, resolving issues, and providing services in compliance with established guidelines.

· Communicates effectively with teacher(s) or other staff as assigned for the purpose of promoting continuous improvement of individual student goals.

· Performs other comparable duties of a like or similar nature as apparent or assigned.

MN Teaching License in Speech Pathology required.

Salary Range: $48,909-$106,848
