Minnehaha Academy has an opening for a part-time (83%) physical education and health teaching position for the 2022-2023 school year, scheduled to begin in August 2022, serving Middle School students.

Lower School CORE Teacher

The Lower School has an opening for a full-time CORE teacher for the 2022-2023 school year. This position will work closely with grade level teachers and the Director of Teaching and Learning to develop and lead grade level specific project-based learning experiences. This teacher will serve as a Lower School Specialist serving grades K-5 in our Specialist rotation.

This is a new position, borne out of our Strategic Plan and a commitment to creating experiences that reflect our Core Values and encourage students to become whole and holy people, prepared to make a Kingdom impact.

Upper School Learning Specialist

Minnehaha Academy has an opening for a Learning Specialist (Teacher) in the Upper School for the 2022-2023 school year. This is a full-time, benefit eligible position.

The Upper School Learning Specialist (Teacher) will work directly with students, staff and parents to improve student achievement by providing research-based instruction, interventions and strategies to enhance academic success for students.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one and small-group instruction for students in a variety of academic subjects
  • Instruct/Mentor individuals and groups of students to strengthen academic skills including test-taking strategies, study skills, time and homework management, and techniques for communicating with teachers
  • Participate in data analysis meetings to monitor student growth
  • Provide testing accommodations for students
  • Attend and contribute to student support team (SST) meetings
  • Report regularly to parents on student progress
  • Coordinate accessibility to audiobooks and assistive technology
  • Develop and maintain communication and documentation protocols related to learning support (create, update, and maintain student learning plans and database as needed)
  • Assist with requesting accommodations for student standardized testing in partnership with the guidance department
  • Coordinate services for students with MPS IEPs
  • Collaborate with counseling office to provide mental health support

Middle School Literacy Teaching Assistant

Minnehaha Academy’s Middle School has a Literacy Teaching Assistant position available for the 2022-2023 school year.

The Middle School Literacy Teaching Assistant will work directly with students and teachers to improve student achievement by supporting research-based instruction, interventions and strategies to enhance academic success for students.

Description:  

  • Monday-Friday, student contact days and professional development days
  • Hours are 8:30am – 3:30pm
  • Non-exempt, hourly position, 6.5 hours of daily paid time and an unpaid 30-minute lunch break
  • Hourly wage will be determined based on education and experience

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Provide direct student support in classrooms during literacy instruction
  • Provide support to individual students or groups of students for remediation, reinforcement, or enrichment
  • Work in partnership with content area teachers in delivering literacy instruction
  • Work closely and collaboratively with the Middle School Learning Specialist

Days/Hours: 1.0 FTE
Banded/Graded:  C-5-2
Responsible to:  Building Principal/Teaching and Learning

Position Purpose:   The primary functions include leadership of development and scaling of student-centered learning models, facilitation of professional learning at the building and district level, and coordination of secondary programming for advanced learners.

Qualifications:  Teacher certification, at least 5 years teaching, middle level experience preferred
Compensation and Yearly Duration of Employment:  Compensation will be determined by District 112 and the Chaska Education Association (CEA).
