Behavior Paraprofessional – #4971 Spring Lake Park

A Behavior Paraprofessional at Woodcrest Spanish Immersion Elementary, helping to support Behavior Specialist teachers and students in grades K-4 to create and carry out behavior plans for both Special Education and non-Special Education students.

Primary Responsibilities:

Duties of this job include, but are not limited to…

under the supervision of a Behavior Specialist, implementing behaviors plans customized and personalized for students to reinforce preferred behavior;
performing general data collection tasks for the purpose of progress monitoring student success;
having the ability and passion to work with students with emotional/behavior issues is essential;
working comfortably with students in individual, small group, and large group environments, in both general and special education settings;
working effectively with an interdisciplinary team, while having the ability to work independently;
working with school staff to provide behavior support to students in collaboration with teachers; and
participating in, and providing information for, team meetings related to student success and next actions;
this is a bi-lingual (Spanish/English) school, ability to speak Spanish is preferred but not required.

Duties of this job include, but are not limited to:Partner with district AVID coordinator, and district AVID team:Design authentic integration of personal learner maps, competency based learning and learner profiles using AVID strategies
Design professional learning for implementation of AVID schoolwide and AVID elective in alignment with the SLP vision of innovative and personalized learning
Collect and review district and school implementation data to inform next steps in learning and implementation
Partner with school school leadership team:Participate on Learning and Equity Teams on a regular or ad hoc basis
Partner in the facilitation of site level professional learning
Serve as site project lead for AVID within school improvement and innovation plan
Conduct walkthroughs to gather data and provide feedback on use of WICOR strategies
Partner with AVID elective teachers:Organize and coordinate family workshops at each school
Coordinate arrangements for college field trips and guest instruction that help students with post-secondary planning
Develop and implement a vertical, articulated AVID elective curriculum that augments innovative and personalized learning
Coach tutors to implement and sustain effective tutorials and goal setting
Partner with Counselors for Personalized Learning:Advocate for student access to rigorous courses
Purposefully recruit students for AVID elective, including collecting data, hosting information meetings for students and families, seeking teacher feedback, and interviewing students
Monitor grades for AVID students in all classes
Collaborate on tools and resources for post-secondary planning for AVID students
