JOB GOAL:
To enable the District to provide quality education for all students in the District.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Professional Skills – The teacher is expected to establish procedures of management to allow a maximum of learning and a minimum of disciplinary action by:
1. Planning and organizing effectively.

3. Creating and maintaining an atmosphere conducive to learning.
4. Providing opportunities for individual differences.

3. Being available for extra help.
4. Using methods of management that result in desired changes in behavior.
5. Communicating and maintaining a working relationship with parents.
6. Maintaining confidentiality with respect to students and their records.
7. Refraining from personal criticism of staff to students.
8. Avoiding use of position for commercial gain.

The teacher is expected to establish and maintain a professional relationship with fellow staff members by:
9. Cooperating with other staff members.
10. Consulting with co-workers in evaluating and meeting student needs.
11. Leaving clear and complete instructions for substitutes.
12. Following curriculum and policies approved by the Board.
13. Cooperating in evaluation of present curriculum.
14. Recommending possible revision of curriculum.
15. Being proficient or distinguished in all areas listed on the Teacher Performance Evaluation.
16. Communicating professionally and respectfully with students, staff, parents, and community members, using oral, written, and electronic means.
17. Attending work regularly.
18. Performing other duties as assigned.

Professional Development: The teacher is expected to demonstrate professional development by:
1. Participating actively in inservice programs.
2. Keeping abreast of professional developments in his/her particular area and in education as a whole.
3. Exploring new teaching techniques as alternatives to better accomplish predetermined instructional objectives.

Summer Groundskeeper

Bus ESP – Summer ESY

Hours:  4 hours/day Part-Time, Summer only; 5 days/week Split Shift (A.M. / P.M.); Monday through Friday
Summer Position from June 27, 2022 – August 5, 2022

General Purpose of Job:  Assist students and driver in the transportation of students.

Responsibilities: 

  • Provide a safe and positive experience for students on special education buses.
  • Assist/accompany child in loading and unloading students by operating wheelchair lift or holding hand/arm to support child.
  • Responsible for securing students in wheel chairs, assisting students into booster seats, and securing students in safety vests.
  • Cooperates with the driver in maintaining good ridership control.  Corrects disruptive behavior by singing, talking or providing distractions on the bus.
  • Works with drivers and students to promote positive behavior on special education and general education buses by utilizing our Positive
  • Behavior Interventions Supports (PBIS), bus behavior matrix and bus bucks program.
  • Assist students in keeping clothes on, being sure articles are not left behind, etc.  Be sure students are comfortable and special seat or equipment stays secured; e.g., wheelchair brake.
  • Cooperate and communicate with teachers, nurse and parents regarding student behavior/problems.  Give/receive information pertaining to problems.  Informs parents of students’ behavior.
  • Communicate with transportation office regarding problems with pick-up areas, excessive tardiness and other special problems encountered in providing services.  Informs of severe deviation/problems, e.g., problem student, extreme delays in picking up students, no parent to greet the child, etc.
  • Complete Bus Conduct and Incident Communications on student’s transportation problems as they arise.
  • ESP’s will be required to work with two school district calendars.  Some students attend District 287 and will require ESP’s to work on NON-OSSEO days.
  • Ability to log into district website to report hours worked weekly and review emails as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned

Continuous Elementary Building Substitute

The Continuous Elementary Building Substitute Teacher will be providing classroom instruction out of multiple classrooms.  Your assigned building may change through the year based on system needs.

General Purpose of Job: To inspire and prepare all scholars with the confidence, courage, and competence to achieve their dreams; contribute to community; and engage in a lifetime of learning. In the absence of the classroom teacher, the substitute teacher provides instruction, encourages student progress, and manages the learning environment.

Responsibilities: The substitute teacher will be assigned to only one elementary building to conduct assigned classes at the times scheduled; follow system policies and regulations concerning student conduct and discipline; follow professional practices consistent with school and system policies in working with students, student records, parents and colleagues.

Demonstrate professional practices in teaching:

  • Model correct use of oral and written language
  • Follow teacher lesson plans
  • Assign reasonable tasks and homework to students
  • Encourage student progress.

Responsible To:  Building Principals; Special Education Director/Supervisor
Qualifications: Valid State of Minnesota License in Special Education K-12 in any disability area.
Major Job Functions; Specific Tasks/Required Knowledge, Ability and Skills:  This is a fulltime position in Special Education  see attachment

Compensation and Yearly Duration of Employment:  Compensation will be determined by District 112 and the Chaska Education Association (CEA).

Interview review process ongoing until filled
