SoWashCo Online Principal

POSITION SUMMARY: 

Perform instructional leadership and management of the SoWashCo Online educational program to maximize student learning under the supervision of the Assistant Superintendent. Manage, evaluate and supervise effective and clear procedures for the operation and functioning of SoWashCo Online consistent with the philosophy, mission, values, goals and strategic plan of the school district.  This includes master scheduling, instructional programs, co-curricular activities, and student management systems to ensure a safe and orderly climate, program evaluation, personnel management, office operations and emergency procedures.

PRIMARY JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Serve as an instructional leader.
  • Create and maintain a culture focused on learning and continuous improvement.
  • Establish and promote high standards and expectations for all students and staff for academic performance and personal responsibility.
  • Develop and administer an annual master schedule for instructional programs, ensuring sequential learning experiences for all students.
  • Continually monitor student progress and outcomes.  Work with staff to improve student learning and achievement.
  • Establish and maintain effective communication and public relations with staff, students, parents and community members through all programs and activities.
  • Prepare and manage the budget for the building, maintain accurate budgetary records as required by district policies and procedures.
  • Establish a high performing staff through effective hiring and evaluation systems.  Develop, coach, train, mentor and manage staff as appropriate.
  • Manage, evaluate and supervise effective and clear procedures for the operation and functioning of the school consistent with the philosophy, mission, values, goals and strategic plan of the school district including instructional programs, extracurricular activities, building maintenance, program evaluation, personnel management, office operations and emergency procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with all laws, school board policies and school district procedures.
  • Supervise the instructional programs of the school on a regular basis to ensure the use of effective instructional strategies, content and materials consistent with research on learning and child growth and development.
  • Work with staff to identify professional needs and plan, organize, and facilitate programs that improve staff effectiveness.
  • Ensure a safe, orderly environment that encourages staff and students to take responsibility for behavior and creates high morale among staff and students.
  • Establish a professional rapport with students and staff. Display the highest ethical and professional behavior and standards when working with students, parents and school personnel. Serve as a role model.
  • Participate in professional development workshops, activities and seminars.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Preschool Teacher (Long-Term Substitute)

Job Summary
Provide a comprehensive and developmentally appropriate preschool experience for children. Guide children’s behavior in a consistent and positive manner.

Job Functions

Plan, implement, evaluate and coordinate curriculum and behavioral support with other staff.
Observe/monitor/assess/record each child’s development/behavior for reporting and progress monitoring.
Develop and maintain rapport with each child and provide positive behavior guidance to all children, plus provide for the health and safety of each child.
Provide a developmentally appropriate classroom – organized, safe and inclusive of learning centers.
Maintain and order supplies, equipment and materials as appropriate.
Plan and coordinate special events/celebrations of learning.
Develop and maintain communication with parents through daily greeting, parent info, conferences, progress reports, open houses, volunteering and events.
Provide support, direction, supervision and assistance to the assistant(s).
Respond appropriately to emergency or crisis situations.
Maintain appropriate records with the support of the assistant(s).
Maintain communication with all staff and participate as a team member.
Perform other general duties as assigned by your supervisor to accomplish the objectives of the Early Learning Program.

School Psychologist (Long-Term Substitute)

Job Summary
Lead the implementation of a school-wide multi-tiered system of support (MTSS) model consistent with the district framework to ensure: high quality instruction and preventative interventions, assessment practices are applied across all levels of the system for a deeper understanding of each student’s needs and alignment of resources and supports necessary for each student’s academic and social-emotional success.

Conduct special education evaluations, including problem identification, assessment selection and administration, result interpretation and team eligibility decisions, and documentation according to state and federal requirements and relevant ethical guidelines. Provide support, assistance and consultation to teachers in addressing assessment needs of students who may have a disability. Provide intellectual, behavioral and occasional academic assessments. Participate in IEP meetings and facilitate communication between staff and families as necessary.

Job Functions

Support delivery of some special education services as specified in Individual Education Plans, by conducting individual or group intervention and consulting with general and special education colleagues

Coordinate and implement Tier I (general education via consultation) and Tier II interventions for individual or groups of students, including appropriate assessment and progress monitoring
Analyze assessment and intervention data and develop data-based decision-making protocols across tiers of service delivery
Assist with staff training and supervision of staff providing tiered services and interventions
Assist in selection, administration, and/or interpretation of assessments (e.g., Minnesota Comprehensive Assessment data, universal screening data, etc.) to inform instruction or fulfill other school needs
Conduct analyses or research as needed to support decision-making, evaluate effectiveness of programs or interventions, etc.
Cultivate and develop inclusive and equitable working relationships with all students, staff, families and community members.

Paraeducator – Program Assistant

The Adventure Connection (AC) Program Assistant position is a great opportunity to help manage a before and after school program for elementary school students.   Working under the guidance of the Inclusion Facilitator, the AC Program Assistant is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of an Adventure Connection Site. The AC Program Assistant plays a key role in ensuring that program participants have a supportive, interactive, and enriching program experience while ensuring the safety and security of all program participants.  This position will also specialize in creating an environment that minimizes and positively resolves behavior issues for students in the program.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in overseeing a diversified program to include art, science, service learning, recreational activities and more.
  • Responsible for maintaining the safety of all participants involved in the program.
    Be the lead inclusion staff person to deal with significant behavior issues and help resolve conflicts in a positive manner.
  • Have a strong expertise in a wide variety of techniques and strategies for working with students with behavioral and developmental challenges.
  • Attend multiple trainings each year designed to strengthen behavior management and relationship building skills when working with children.
  • Work with students with special needs and their families to ensure that individualized plans are in place to allow every child to be successful in Adventure Connection.
