A Behavior Paraprofessional at Centerview Elementary School, helping to support Behavior Specialist teachers and students in grades K-4 to create and carry out behavior plans for both Special Education and non-Special Education students.

under the supervision of a Behavior Specialist, implementing behaviors plans customized and personalized for students to reinforce preferred behavior;
performing general data collection tasks for the purpose of progress monitoring student success;
having the ability and passion to work with students with emotional/behavior issues is essential;
working comfortably with students in individual, small group, and large group environments, in both general and special education settings;
working effectively with an interdisciplinary team, while having the ability to work independently;
working with school staff to provide behavior support to students in collaboration with teachers; and
participating in, and providing information for, team meetings related to student success and next actions.

Position Overview:

A 1.0 FTE School Psychologist position with a heavy focus on Social, Emotional, Behavioral work. This position will be expected to work with students with disabilities and general education at our Woodcrest Spanish Immersion school and Spring Lake Park High School. This position requires the school psychologist be committed to providing services that are culturally competent and developmentally appropriate. Approximately half of the role’s time will be providing direct social skills services to students at the secondary setting. The candidate must be knowledgeable in types of behavioral and academic interventions and evaluation instruments appropriate for students in grade K-4 and 9-12.

provide professional advice and consultation to students, parents, staff and faculty on all matters related to psychological educational needs and services in the schools;
research and study the field of child growth and development in order to recognize the academic, social and emotional needs of children;
provide direct, short-term solution focused counseling services for students; and

Conduct formative assessment, and monitor progress, to guide instructional planning.
Conduct social, emotional, and behavioral assessments as part of triannual special education evaluations.
Consult with general and special education staff.
Maintain student records of services provided.
Participate in IEP and evaluation summary meetings.
Perform other related duties, as assigned.

Experience:

Previous experience or willingness to work with students struggling with behavior management. Additional knowledge or experience with due process/assessments/methods and current trends in the field of behavior interventions and support.
