Nature of Work:

Incumbents are responsible for transcribing classroom materials from print to braille. Responsibilities may include adapting images, charts, and related materials following established guidelines; identifying need for use of an outside vendor; format, proof, and bind materials; and ordering materials.

Typical Class Responsibilities: 

– Transcribes classroom materials from print to braille; inputs text either by scanning materials or typing into the designated braille software and technology; and formats, proofs, embosses, and binds materials determines whether materials shall be transcribed internally or through an external vendor.
– Creates tactile materials including images, graphs, charts, and maps.
– Adapts small books by adding braille.
– Orders materials including braille textbooks, workbooks, and literature from State Services for the Blind.
– Creates and/or maintains a variety of forms, files, logs, lists, schedules, records, and other related documentation related to assigned program area.
– Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.

Educational Services Program Coordinator, Curriculum and Data

Nature of Work:

Under the direction of the Director of Education Services, the Curriculum & Data Specialist trains, coaches, and consults with district staff to develop/revise, and implement standards-based curriculum and essential learning outcomes. This position requires knowledge of curriculum development, standards, assessment tools, assessment data analysis, and of district/state regulations and procedures, the ability to assume responsibility and work effectively under pressure while maintaining confidentiality, and the demonstration of strong interpersonal skills.

Typical Class Responsibilities: 

– Plans, develops, and implements professional development, instructional services, and learning resources for teachers.
– Assesses and evaluates the effectiveness of the curriculum and instructional services; identifies program enhancements and modifications; identifies when training or technology support is needed; establishes training schedules; and provides coaching and mentoring support and programs.
– Develops, implements, administers, and monitors programs in accordance with District goals ensuring compliance with policies and procedures, best practices, quality, and related standards.
– Maintains tracking systems and prepares reports to assist with the evaluation and review of various programs.
– Collaborates, facilitates, and attends meetings with administrators, teachers, staff, other districts, and member networks to share and provide curriculum leadership.
– Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.

Functional Class Responsibilities: 

– Assists with the implementation of our Vision for Student Learning and our Vision for Equity.
– Leads curriculum adoption and implementation for curricula, including the development and implementation of scope and sequence 6-12.
– Leads subject area curriculum teams to review standards and curriculum.
– Defines and implements Tier 1 learning theories for literacy and math instruction in collaboration with content area specialists.
– Coordinates, facilitates, and provides training, including in-classroom coaching for building staff necessary to implement and maintain adopted curricula.
– Models instructional and assessment strategies, including those to differentiate for work with diverse learners.
– Supports and coordinates mentors for general education staff (ALC/CTC).
– Manages licensure renewal and CEU’s through Keep Certified.
– Coordinates and works in partnership with the CEU Committee.
– Provides regular program data-based evaluative feedback with suggested plans for amelioration of any targeted areas of concern to the Director and other stakeholders.
– Assists staff in the use of assessment data to guide instruction and site-level decisions.
– Develops a plan for and implement data collection and analysis around the efficacy of curriculum implementation.
– Coordinates with staff purchase and delivery of curriculum materials as needed.  Coaches and mentors teachers new to content area instruction.
– Connects building staff to resources required for successful implementation of the curriculum.
– Acts as a liaison for curriculum implementation between building staff and district/school administration.
– Supports classroom teachers in accessing and utilizing online components of district curriculum.
– Collaborates with the IT Technology Specialists when adopting and implementing new technology in support of District initiatives and student and adult learning.
– Supports staff on the integration and implementation of technology to achieve “Tier 3” learning environments.
– Provides leadership in the selection, development, and maintenance of materials for teachers to gain the skills necessary to effectively integrate technology as a tool for productivity, communication, research, problem-solving, student engagement, and decision making.
– Supports and contributes to the TLS department in the creation and maintenance of the departmental websites.
– Keeps abreast and continues professional growth of best teaching practices, assessment strategies, and new technology developments to foster the integration of all into teacher instruction to benefit student learning.
– Facilitates and participates in staff and other professional meetings as may be assigned or necessary.
– Demonstrates positive relationship skills with students, parents, and district staff, maintaining ongoing and open communication.
– Uses technology for communication, presentations, training, instruction, and workshops.
– Possesses knowledge of and adheres to Governing Policies and District Regulations and procedures.
– Participates in special projects as assigned and performs related duties and key responsibilities consistent with the scope and intent of the position.
– Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.

Teacher ASD or DD

Nature of Work:

Incumbents are responsible for teaching students in assigned disciplines in classrooms, small groups, or at home; adapting teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students’ varying needs and interests; developing individual educational plans designed to promote students’ educational, physical, or social development; establishing and enforcing rules for behavior and procedures for maintaining order among students; administering tests to help determine students’ developmental levels, needs, or potential; and conferring with parents, guardians, teachers, counselors, or administrators to resolve students’ behavioral or academic problems.

Typical Class Responsibilities: 

– Implements and delivers instructional activities to students; instructs and monitors students in the use of learning materials and resources; monitors and assesses student progress and competency mastery, which includes: identifying appropriate assessment methods; developing and administering tests; grading assigned student work; providing performance feedback; and performing other related activities.
– Develops, implements, and evaluates curriculum; establishes learning objectives; prepares and evaluates lesson plans; evaluates and selects instructional resources and/or specialized resources; adapts materials and curriculum to meet the needs of students with varying backgrounds, learning styles, and special needs.
– Manages student behavior, which includes: developing and implementing classroom rules and applicable disciplinary procedures; assisting in the administration of applicable behavioral policies and rules; and providing appropriate interventions and strategies to address behavior issues.
– Maintains accurate and complete student records including grades, achievements, development, and attendance; ensures Due Process rights of students are maintained, as applicable; and develops and writes Individualized Educational Plans and associated reports, as applicable.
– Participates in a variety of meetings, which may include: parent or guardian conferences, special education briefings, staff and/or committee meetings, staff development sessions, and/or other related meetings.
– Performs related support functions, which may include: preparing correspondence and reports; responding to inquiries; and performing related duties.
– Provides feedback to education and student assistants; gives direction to assistants as necessary.
– Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.

Health Services Specialist

Nature of Work:

Incumbents are responsible for providing standard medical care to students. Responsibilities may include: obtaining and maintaining records; administering insulin, cough medicine, Tylenol, or related medication; and assessing standard symptoms such as headaches, the flu, and similar issues.

Typical Class Responsibilities: 

– In accordance with the Nurse Practice Act, performs medical care screenings of students as directed by the School Nurse; assesses the student’s symptoms, illness, or injury; communicates assessment findings, recommended treatment protocols, and/or referral recommendations; and may implement approved treatment plans.
– Administers medications to students in accordance with guidelines; provides diabetic glucose monitoring and insulin administration; performs or assists students with the application/use of medical related equipment.
– Prepares and maintains accurate and detailed records of services rendered, case histories of treatment, and medication inventories; disseminates information to appropriate persons; updates medical records; completes third party reimbursement documentation; ensures compliance with applicable protocols and regulatory requirements.
– Communicates with student guardians and staff pertaining to student health related needs.
– Performs ongoing inventory counts of medications and supplies; and restocks and orders supplies.
– Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.

Captionist

Incumbents are responsible for captioning spoken communication in the classroom. Responsibilities may include captioning classes using software; revising transcripts to fit student needs; and troubleshooting devices.

Typical Class Responsibilities:

– Provides real time captioning of all spoken classroom communications; and prepares for classes by previewing materials and videos.
– Reviews and edits transcripts to improve readability; and customizes and edits transcripts to fit individual student needs.
