Position Description:
Wayzata Public Schools is currently seeking an Associate Superintendent to serve as the chief operations officer and as such be responsible for assisting the superintendent in the management of the schools, administration of all Board approved policies and the conduct and quality of the District’s educational programs and support systems. This leader champions the District’s core values in all aspects of our work, with the mission of ensuring that each and every student graduates with options and is prepared to contribute to an ever changing society.
Duties and Responsibilities of the Position:
Achieves strategic objectives by working collaboratively with leaders in Human Resources, Finance and Operations, Teaching and Learning, Community Engagement, Communications, Student Services, and Technology to achieve the mission of Wayzata Public Schools.
Ensures effective organizational management by collaborating with all involved parties within the school setting and community, to maintain a safe and healthy learning environment; allocating human and financial resources to accomplish our mission; and by coordinating the work and expectation of all leadership personnel to ensure organizational effectiveness.
Demonstrates and communicates an understanding and appropriate use of performance measures established within the district to support specific goals and initiatives
Develops and leads positive leadership and promotes accountability by supervising and evaluating the district’s principals and associate principals.
Ensures improved student achievement by overseeing the design, implementation and continuous improvement of curriculum, effective instruction, evaluation of programs and practices using data; supervising and evaluating site and system leaders; and by demonstrating leadership for racial equity.
Qualifications: Five or more years as an educational leader at a school and/or district level in a medium or large organization.
Demonstrated success as a strong and visionary leader in a building principal or district administrator capacity
Demonstrated strong academic and professional experience in curriculum, instruction and instructional technology
Skilled in leadership core competencies including: strategic leadership, collaboration, judgment, communication, planning and execution, knowledge, initiative, adaptability, self-management, motivation, and cultural competence
Skilled in identifying, analyzing, and resolving problems
Strong communication skills and interpersonal skills
Masters degree in educational leadership or related field. Doctorate Degree is preferred
K-12 Principal License
Superintendent license
Essential Knowledge:
Knowledge of the Wayzata Vision and Mission and Strategic Goals
Understand the impact of race and culture on learning and understand racial equity leadership
Understand E-12 school operations and site leadership
Knowledge of organizational change, systems theory, and transformational leadership
Knowledge of laws, state mandates, regulations and procedures.
