Saint Paul Conservatory for Performing Artists (SPCPA) is a public high school in the heart of downtown St. Paul, Minnesota. Students complete required academic credits and conservatory-style training in the arts provided by professional artists in preparation for college and conservatory.

Key Responsibilities

  • Align work with the school’s mission, vision, and values
  • Work collaboratively with the administrative team in the performance of various leadership responsibilities that include academic programming and operations, advancing college and conservatory planning, preparation, and engagement for students and families, student behavior intervention, management and conflict resolution, attendance and truancy, 504 Plan coordination, and support of overall school operations
  • Build and sustain an inclusive and equitable environment for students and staff
  • Maintains a visible presence during the school day and is proactive in interacting with students and staff
  • Assist students and families in locating and connecting with various community resources
  • Support the administration of standardized assessments
  • Collect, analyze, and present information and data, as needed
  • Attend and supervise school sponsored events during and outside the school day
  • Perform other duties as may be assigned by supervisor

Compensation/Benefits

Job summary:  To inspire and prepare each and every scholar with the confidence, courage and competence to achieve their dreams; contribute to community; and engage in a lifetime of learning by performing tasks and duties associated with the maintenance and care of district facilities, equipment, and grounds by filling in at buildings as assigned

Responsibilities and tasks include:

 

Assuming full responsibility daily of the position being subbed for.
Communicating work allocation directives issued by the Coordinator and/or Assistant Coordinator, Facilities Operations and building principal to the building custodial personnel.
Performing general housekeeping tasks to include, but not limited to, dust mopping and wet mopping classrooms, restrooms and hallway floors, cleaning restrooms, stripping and sealing resilient and hard surface floors, washing windows, walls, lockers; vacuum all carpeted areas of the building; housekeeping tasks to be performed according to established district systems and cleaning standards;
Performing minor carpentry, electrical, mechanical and non-potable water system plumbing repairs to include but not limited to cleaning equipment, ceilings and floor tile and carpet;
Providing support to kitchen staff by mopping floors and unloading groceries and stacks in storeroom, and stock supplies in storeroom;
Monitoring and adjusting building automation controls;
Securing the facility; arming and disarming the security system; and
Reporting vandalism or unauthorized individuals in buildings.
Maintaining building grounds including, but not limited to, watering, mowing, trimming, pruning shrubs, trees, weeding, removing paper and debris from school yard and along fence lines.
Performing snow removal and keeping sidewalks free of ice
Taking charge of all aspects of the physical operation of the building for which they are responsible.
Reporting to the Assistant Coordinator, Maintenance Services (or their designee) any breakdown of equipment that is not functioning as designed.
Maintaining and submitting all appropriate reports and logs in a timely manner.
Painting district facilities to include but not limited to walls, doors, frames, etc.
Maintaining building equipment per department guidelines.
Operating and maintaining boiler: Checking boiler to ensure appropriate operation.
Setting up and taking down equipment including but not limited to tables, chairs, band shell, etc.; and
Responding to questions and providing excellent customer service to facility users.
Performing other comparable duties of a like or similar nature as assigned.
Minimum qualifications include:

High school graduate or equivalent.
Must obtain MN Specialist boiler license within 1 year of hire date
Knowledge, skills, and abilities include:

Computer skills, including proper use of email communication
Knowledge of proper operation of building automation systems
Knowledge of cleaning techniques and materials
Knowledge of all safety precautions applicable to trade.
Caring for and repairing facilities and equipment.
Working with the principal and building staff on correcting issues as they arise.
Responding effectively to student, staff and community needs.
Providing excellent customer service.
Using problem solving techniques.
Demonstrating effective written and oral communication skills.
Maintaining accurate/current records.
Excellent organizational skills.
Helping, taking instructions, and exchanging information.
Preferred qualifications include:

MN First Class C boiler license preferred.
Training or experience cleaning and maintaining a commercial facility desired.

Position Overview
The Director of Activities & Athletics is responsible for the leadership, coordination, and management of all extracurricular and co-curricular programming across K–12. This includes athletics (MSHSL and non-league), fine arts, clubs, elementary and middle school (MCSAA) programming, and coordinating with after-school enrichment (Skyhawks). The position ensures all programming reflects the school’s mission, aligns with educational goals, and fosters student growth, engagement, and excellence.

Key Responsibilities

Program Leadership & Alignment

Oversee a comprehensive portfolio of programs including 15 MSHSL athletics, multiple cooperative partners, middle school activities, elementary athletics, fine arts programs, and K–12 clubs.
Ensure alignment of all activities with the school’s mission, values, and strategic priorities.
Serve as the primary liaison to the Minnesota State High School League (MSHSL), assigned conferences, cooperative agreements, and external partners.
Coordinate key student life events such as Homecoming and Prom, in partnership with school leadership and student organizations.
Staffing, Supervision & Facility Coordination

Recruit, hire, train, supervise, and evaluate coaches, directors, and program volunteers.
Promote a positive and professional culture for all activity leaders that supports student success and program quality.
Schedule gym for school sponsored events and coordinate with community partners for facility usage.
Event & Operations Management

Coordinate all logistical aspects of events and activities including scheduling, venue setup, supervision, transportation, and staffing coverage.
Attend key events to support programming and ensure smooth operations.
Oversee the inventory, distribution, and return of school-owned athletic equipment and uniforms. Maintain organized and secure equipment rooms and implement appropriate physical security measures.
Eligibility, Conduct, & Policy

Refine and enforce academic eligibility standards for student participation.
Partner with administration on matters of student conduct and school supervision as related to extracurricular participation.
Maintain compliance with school policies and MSHSL regulations.
Financial Oversight

Develop and manage Fund 4 budgets related to activities and athletics.
Ensure proper handling and accounting of funds, including activity fees, gate receipts, and concessions.
Assist with purchasing, invoicing, and reconciliation processes for the Activities Department to ensure accurate financial tracking.
Collaboration, Communications & Community Engagement

Partner with building administrators and district staff to integrate activities into the broader educational experience.
Contribute to schoolwide supervision and other duties as assigned to support the school community.
Collaborate with the communications team to promote activities through social media, school webpages, and email newsletters. Ensure effective visibility and engagement with students, families, and the community.
Serve as a liaison to parent-led groups such as the ERA Booster Club to support fundraising, event support, and program development.

Qualifications

Required:

Bachelor’s degree (Education, Educational Administration, Kinesiology, Sport Management, Business, or related field).
Experience overseeing school-based athletics and/or activities, including personnel management.
Prior coaching or program leadership experience.
Familiarity with MSHSL rules and procedures.
Budgeting and program operations experience.
Preferred:

Advanced degrees or administrative licensure.
Experience in Classical Education or alignment with its philosophy and values.
