Academia Cesar Chavez, a pre-K – 8th grade charter school in St. Paul, Minnesota is seeking a new Executive Director. ACC is dedicated to providing quality dual-language education that prepares critical thinking, socially competent, values driven, and culturally aware bilingual and bi-literate learners by advocating Latino cultural values in an environment of “familia” and community. The Executive Director (ED) will provide leadership to the Academia Cesar Chavez (ACC) Charter School administrative faculty and staff in support of achieving the mission, vision, goals and values of the school. As a responsibility delegated by the ACC Board of Directors, the ED will interview, hire, and dismiss all personnel. The ED will work to insure compliance with all state and federal laws and regulations governing the operation of charter schools. The ED will work to assure that ACC provides a culturally responsive educational environment conducive to achieving academic excellence through ACC dual language program model and through other innovative assessments. The ED will work with the Board of Directors to maintain the financial viability of the school; lead the organizational planning and oversee the day to day operations; represent ACC in the public media and community; serve on Board Committees; and act as a liaison with ACC’s Charter School Authorizer. SouthWest Metro Intermediate District 288 has a part-time opening in our Career and Technical program.  This is a Coordinator position for the upcoming 2021-22 school year.  The position requires 3.5-4 hours per day for the 21/22 school year at .5 FTE with an additional 100 hours of work before the start of the school year as well as after the end of the school year.

Minimum qualifications:  
Bachelor’s degree, Experience working with Career and Technical Education programs. MN Department of education District Administrators license or ability to obtain one prior to start.

LICENSING REQUIREMENTS: Minnesota Educational Administrative License (Principal, Superintendent, or District Administrative license), or, the ability to obtain prior to starting position required.

 COORDINATOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Report to Executive Director of Career and Alternative Programs
  • First point of contact regarding CTE programs, communicate with the home districts, Registration guide updates maintained and sent to districts, schedule changes communicated to staff; maintain pre-registration numbers for programs; actual student enrollments recorded.
  • Staff observations (if appropriately licensed), participate in hiring/discipline/support of staff; assist HR director and staff with licensing requirements, work with staff on curriculum and program updates/needs, PD for staff, staff meetings
  • Maintain database of enrollments to ensure accurate billing, communicate with billing clerical
  • Maintain transportation schedule from districts, communicate them with staff
  • CTE Student discipline if needed
  • Assist staff in getting students registered for concurrent enrollment, communication with colleges, ensure staff attend meetings and utilize the ctecreditmn.org website for articulation, assist staff with TSA testing; set up, proctoring, reporting
  • Back up for Building Supervisor – involved in drills and crisis activities, etc.
  • Utilize director of special education in the building to answer special education questions and assist in CTE special education needs
  • Check staff attendance and ensure coverage.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: Minimum Qualifications – Bachelor’s degree required.

Job Summary
Work in cooperation with the Middle School Principal to provide assistance in the operation and functions of the school.  Work directly with all staff, students, parents and district personnel; oversee and participate in the daily operations of the main office; work with students including managing student discipline and behaviors; work to meet district and building goals and initiative related to student achievement.

Job Functions

Responsible for student academic counseling and discipline
Work closely with the principal to ensure curriculum alignment and support IB programs
Assist the principal in the hiring of staff
Assist the principal with student discipline, attendance, records, testing and meetings.
Assist in the evaluation and supervision of tenured and non-tenured staff
Create the master schedule, coordinate student system and facilitate student registration
Coordinate BARR (Building Assets, Reducing Risks) Program
Lead PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions & Supports) Team
Support and promote the school district’s strategic plan.
Act as a resource for classroom teachers, assistants, and substitutes teachers
Work to maintain open communication with staff, district personnel, parents and community
Provide guidance services to assigned students including course selection, graduation requirements, post-secondary option and other planning functions
Facilitate re-entry meetings for suspended students
Provide career services including financial assistance information, letters of recommendation, interest inventories and recruitment
Supervise events outside the school day, including night and weekend supervision, as assigned by the principal
Responsible for monitoring hallways, cafeteria and building security
School/District representative for all state tests and to provide training for proctors for ACT and PSAT
Provide assistance in designing/implementing student handbook revisions
Coordinate school clubs, activities, programs, and events
Work with the principal and school staff to ensure the safety of students
Assist with designing and implementing new programs that reflect the changing needs of the student population
