ABOUT THE COMMUNITY/SCHOOL DISTRICT:

Intermediate School District 917 is one of four intermediate school districts in Minnesota created by the state legislature in the late 1960s. The ISD 917 School Board was organized in March of 1970 and is comprised of one board member from each of the nine-member school districts. Currently, member districts include Bloomington, Burnsville/Eagan/Savage, Farmington, Hastings, Inver Grove Heights, Lakeville, Randolph, South St. Paul, and West St. Paul/Mendota Heights/Eagan.

LEADERSHIP PROFILE: The Intermediate School District 917 School Board seeks a superintendent who:

• Has broad experience in school system administration with knowledge of career/technical and special education
• Develops trust and works collaboratively with diverse groups of stakeholders, including others in leadership positions
• Possesses strong written, verbal, listening, and digital communication skills
• Has the ability to anticipate future trends and issues affecting career/technical and special education
• Is visible and accessible to the School Board, staff, students, parents, and communities
• Has proven experience with equity leadership challenges and opportunities
• Understands and advocates for students and families who access Alternative Learning Centers for academic success
• Develops and directs an effective leadership team
• Has knowledge of and experience with the Minnesota legislative process, and is proficient in conveying to legislators the needs of career/technical and special education

SALARY/CONTRACT:  The current superintendent’s base salary for the 2020-2021 school year is $198,459. The final salary will be negotiated commensurate with experience and qualifications. The contract length is negotiable as provided in Minnesota statute.

Mahtomedi Public Schools is currently seeking a Director of Teaching & Learning to effectively lead and develop the District’s educational programs and support systems, oversee staff development initiatives that promote positive leadership and work closely with district wide leadership to achieve strategic objectives to ensure an equitable learning environment for all students and staff.  This position supports the Superintendent in administration of all School Board approved policies and works collaboratively to support the mission and vision of the School District.

Position Description:
The Athletic/Activities Director supervises, manages, coordinates and plans the total operation of the extracurricular programs, athletics, activities and related athletic facility operations for grades 6-12.

Specific Responsibilities (Please see attached job description for more specific details)

Coordinates and supervises all extracurricular activities and athletics programs unless assigned to other personnel.
Evaluates directors, coaches and programs grades 9-12 on an ongoing, regular basis.
Evaluates and supports all extracurricular programs from a gender free perspective.
Coordinates booster club activities.
Assists the principal(s) in the implementation and supervision of the athletic/activities programs in the secondary schools.
Directs the operation, maintenance and scheduling of athletic/activity facilities at school for the school and outside agencies.
Performs responsibilities in continuous planning and program budget and assists the principal in the overall operation of the athletic/activities programs within the school.
Maintains positive public relations and communication.
Coordinates transportation for extracurricular activities.
Implements security/safety measures at extracurricular activities.
Conducts inventories and surveys of athletic/activities matters.
Performs or provides all supervisory duties at extracurricular activities.
Promotes academic standards and monitors academic progress of all extracurricular participants where applicable.
Purchases all necessary equipment and supplies pertaining to the extracurricular activities program.
Works with middles school principals, coaches and activities directors to coordinate 7-12 activities program.
Performs other duties as assigned by the high school principal.

Qualifications:Master’s Degree or equivalent required.  Three (3) years successful teaching experience.  Three (3) years varsity head coaching experiences and/or athletic director/activities director experience.
Administrative, teaching and coaching license preferred.
