Media and Innovation Specialist

Job Description:
Forest Lake Area Schools is seeking a qualified candidate to serve as a 1.0 FTE Media and Innovation Specialist beginning January 2020 at Columbus Elementary School. This position will report to the school principal and work with both students and teachers, providing media instruction for K-6 students and developing and providing instruction and support for students and teachers in the areas of STEM, technology integration, and gifted education.

ResponsibilitiesTeach media lessons to K-6 students and manage all aspects of the media center
Work collaboratively with teachers, grade level teams and PLCs to plan and deliver STEM-focused instruction aligned to Minnesota math and science standards and ISTE technology standards and incorporating skills in coding and the engineering design process
Provide extended learning and enrichment opportunities for students through hands-on and problem-based learning
Plan and facilitate grade-wide/school-wide STEM-focused problem-solving activities that leverage critical thinking, creativity, collaboration and communication
Provide leadership and expertise in 21st Century learning through planning and facilitation of professional development to promote best practices in teaching and learning in the areas of science, technology, engineering and math
Facilitate professional development around best practices in instructional technology to help teachers effectively integrate digital tools into classroom instruction in order to provide a rich learning environment for all students

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
This work regularly requires sitting, standing, walking, speaking, hearing and occasionally requires pushing, pulling, lifting, and operating machines; work has standard vision requirements; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels and to receive detailed information through oral communications and/or to make fine distinctions in sound; work requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data, and observing general surroundings and activities; work is generally in a moderately noisy location (e.g. school offices/classrooms/passageways).

EVALUATION: Conducted by Building Principal or Associate Principal as per the Hudson School District Board of Education Policy.

Spanish Teacher – Elementary – .7 FTE
