Duties of this job include, but are not limited to:

Under the direction of the OST Youth Programs Coordinator and daily guidance of the OST Manager, the Child Care Assistant Teacher assists in supervising daily activities, events, and stations; interacts with children in activities and learning stations; assists in the preparation of the child care location and environment for daily program events, activities, and functions; and enforces program behavioral rules and guidelines.  The Child Care Assistant assists in implementing and monitoring activities to assure the safety of participants and staff, the adherence to program rules and guidelines, and the quality of service.  The Assistant provides leadership over the site in the absence of the Child Care Teacher.

65% Implements, monitors, and supervises activities, and participates in child care program, activities, and daily operational aspects of the program.
10% Communicates with and passes on information to appropriate staff.  Informs appropriate personnel of problems or concerns that arise during the course of the day.
10% Follows child care program protocols, guidelines and rules in carrying out assignments, in supervising activities and participants, and in the handling/reporting of incidents.
3% Attends staff meetings, in-services and training sessions to discuss site or program issues, problems, concerns or to enhance knowledge and skills pertaining to the job.
2% Performs other comparable duties of a like or similar nature as assigned.

Preferences
No previous experience required.  Six months previous experience working with school aged youth or directly related work experience preferred.

A Student and Family Advocate assists students and supports families by providing strategic services that address the social-emotional-environmental issues that may interfere with the educational process.  Working with parents/guardians, teachers, school principal, and community-based resources, the Student and Family Advocate helps remove barriers that may limit a student’s access to a fulfilled educational experience. In doing so, an Advocate implements strategies that promotes students’ positive school adjustment and creates meaningful family relationships.

Duties of this job include, but are not limited to provide…

crisis intervention services;
social work case management for students and families;
risk assessments on referred students;
liaison services with community agencies and assist in fostering communication and deepening partnerships between schools, parents/guardians, and community organizations;
location and mobilization of community resources to support the education program;
home visits and liaison services between families and the school to positively promote collaborative processes in educational planning for students by encouraging parent/guardian participation in the school setting;
parent/guardian educational opportunities on topics such as: child development, stress reduction, discipline & safety, and teacher/parent/student communication; and
collaboration with school staff and other school system personnel to implement strategies to promote student learning.

the capacity and desire to function with sensitivity & understanding in varying cultural settings;
