Primary Responsibilities

Controller

$85,336 – $103,247 depending on qualifications and experience.

Hours:
8 hours per day, M-F.
12 months, 260 days per year.

Job Summary:
The Controller is generally responsible for business office operations, including purchasing; district’s accounting system; business office/financial software data processing support; investment of district funds; preparation of local, state, and federal financial reports; and preparation of audit documents.  The Controller reports to the Director of Business Services and is responsible to that person for the proper interpretation and performance of duties for that position.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Implement and maintain district’s accounting system consistent with state reporting requirements.
Prepare interim and annual financial reports for all aspects of the district’s operations.
Prepare documentation and spreadsheets for Annual Financial Report.
Prepare revenue and expense records that are consistent with GASB and UFARS guidelines.
Maintain records for all financial grants received by the district to ensure that certain revenues and expenditures are properly recorded and reported.
Maintain records for all federal programs administered by the district to ensure that certain revenues and expenditures are properly recorded and reported.
Coordinate audit process, including preparation of pre-audit work papers and spreadsheets.
Develop, implement, and maintain district fixed asset records.
Manage tax revenues and coding and reporting of same.
Manage IDEAS and EFT state receipts and reporting of same.
Prepare cash flow analysis.
Interpret legislative and state funding regulations.
Manage the tax shelter annuity programs, including enrollments, vendor contact, and distribution of deductions
Supervise all collections of monies and make sure that they are appropriately deposited and reported.
Manage the borrowing and investing of monies as necessary for minimum/maximum interest return.
Manage the financial data processing programs.
Coordinate the district-wide purchasing function.
Properly track district liabilities, including leases, ensuring that the obligations are met and payments are made on a timely basis.
Provide systems expertise in the computerized accounting system.
Facilitate district-wide staff training in the use of the financial software system.
Provide support from program based budget managers to ensure effective utilization of district resources.
Supervise business office including accountant, payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and copy center supervisor.
Manage business office workflow procedures, assignments, and training.
Develop staff back-up procedures to ensure the steady operation of the business service office.

Qualifications:

Strong communication and human relation skills.
A background of increasingly responsible accounting/business management experience in public schools totaling at least 5 years is preferred.
Successful and effective supervisory experience.
Bachelor’s degree in Business or a related field required.
Applicants with a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) will be given additional consideration.
Master’s degree in Business or a related field preferred.

Spanish Teacher – Part-Time, Upper School

Minnehaha Academy is a Christian school and ministry of the Northwest Conference of the Evangelical Covenant Church.  Our mission is to provide a high-quality education integrating the Christian faith and learning.

The Upper School has a Part-Time (20-40%) Spanish teaching position for the 2019-2020 school year.  This position would start on Monday, August 12th.  The class(es) will meet on three days during a typical week, most likely on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays.  This person will teach one section of Spanish 1, with the potential for two depending on summer registration. In August we will be moving into a brand new, state-of-the-art facility back on our old campus at 3100 West River Parkway, in Minneapolis.  Come and join us for this exciting time in our school’s history!
