DESCRIPTION:  The Spring Lake Park School District is a suburban Minneapolis system of approximately 6,000 students serving the communities of Blaine, Fridley, and Spring Lake Park.

The District is seeking a dynamic, innovative leader to assume the role of Director of Communications and Marketing. This position will have the unique opportunity to partner with staff throughout the system to develop and implement strategic, creative communications, marketing, and engagement efforts to deepen staff, family and community pride in the Spring Lake Park Schools. Ultimately, these efforts will consistently communicate our vision and commitment to innovation, personalized learning, and ongoing excellence, positioning the district, and each child we serve, for unparalleled success in the future.

Responsibilities:

Strategic Communications:

Oversee and align all internal and external communications and marketing efforts, leading creative, strategic communications to promote the vision and brand of Spring Lake Park Schools and actively engage the diverse constituencies we serve

Print publications: Oversee the development and distribution of print publications to strategically and creatively communicate district innovation and improvement efforts, news, and happenings to families and community.

Internet and electronic communications: Oversee the development and implementation of the ever-evolving world of internet and electronic communications – websites and social networking —  to engage families, community, and staff

Video planning and production: Oversee the ongoing use of video to communicate and share the stories of Spring Lake Park Schools

School and program communications: Oversee and support school and program communications, marketing, publications efforts, and event planning to ensure effectiveness and branding consistency

Internal communications: Partner with staff throughout the district to continuously enhance communications within and among schools and programs

Media relations: Serve as a liaison between the school district and news media; proactively pursuing media coverage for positive news stories, and effectively responding to media inquiries

Mass communication tools: Partner with district technology staff to facilitate effective implementation of staff, student, and community communication tools

Crisis management: Partner with the superintendent and appropriate staff to effectively communicate to various stakeholders

Marketing and Brand Management:

Oversee and align overall brand management and marketing initiatives, through but not limited to mediums above, to enhance community pride, retain and attract excellent staff, and maintain and increase student market share

Promote the district vision and aligned programming to deepen our reputation of a system committed to innovation, personalized learning and excellence throughout and beyond the Spring Lake Park Schools community

Develop and implement strategies to attract excellent candidates, as well as continuously recruit existing staff

Develop and implement creative strategies to maintain and increase student market share
Leading in Partnership

Ultimately, the person in this position must be a visible leader who actively partners with staff throughout the system to effectively communicate and market the district, ever-deepening and scaling a commitment to our vision internally and externally throughout our Spring Lake Park Schools community.

Candidates selected to fill the role of Orchestra Teacher at Central Middle School will be given the great responsibility of continuing our long standing commitment to academic excellence.  This will be achieved through the design and delivery of music instruction that ensures the success of a diverse population of learners.  In addition, you will be responsible for building positive relationships and working collaboratively with students, parents, and staff members to foster a positive experience for the entire learning community.

Qualifications:Must have a valid MN License in middle school orchestra.
Ideal candidates should have experience with multiple instructional designs and differentiated strategies that support diverse learners.
Must have strong classroom management skills with the ability to maintain a positive learning environment.
Must have the ability to build positive working relationships with students, parents, and staff.
Must be proficient with current technology used to support communication, academics, and student progress monitoring.
Ideal candidate will have experience with string instruments.

Duties of this job include, but are not limited to…

under the supervision of a licensed Special Education staff, implementing Individual Education Plans (IEPs), customized and personalized for students;
having the ability and passion to work with students with disabilities;
working comfortably with students in individual, small group, and large group environments, in both general and special education settings;
working effectively with an interdisciplinary team, while having the ability to work independently;
working with school staff to provide support to students, in collaboration with teachers; and
participating in, and providing information for, team meetings related to student success and next actions.
