Position Overview:

1.0 FTE Special Education teaching position to work with students with disabilities at Spring Lake Park High School, grades 9-12, specifically helping students, families, and staff create and implement Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPS).

Primary Responsibilities:

Duties of this job include, but are not limited to…conducting informal and formal Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBAs) and analyses, as well as collecting and analyzing student data;
establishing and monitoring targeted behavior plans, based on results of Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBAs);
modeling and coaching other school staff on the implementation of targeted behavior plans;
leading a team of paraprofessionals in implementing targeted behavior plans;
communicating with parents to provide regular updates on student successes and challenges;
collaborating with principals, special education coordinator and staff, and professional learning communities, to ensure student needs are being met;
design and implement professional learning on core classroom management expectations and targeted behavior strategies;
maintain student records of services provided, following Due Process best practices and compliance;
participate in IEP and evaluation summary meetings; and
perform other related duties, as assigned.

Experience:

Desired previous experience/knowledge includes…successfully working with students struggling with behavior management and a strong desire to do so;
writing solid Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs)
applying current trends in the field of behavior interventions and support;
utilizing standardized assessment tools;
effectively collaborating with a team; and
constructively communicating with parent/guardian and team members.
