Position Overview:

A 1.0 FTE position, split into 0.5 FTE Dean for Student Services and 0.5 FTE Behavior Specialist, working with students, with and without disabilities, at Woodcrest Spanish Immersion school in grades K-4.  This position creates conditions for continuous improvement and innovation, fostering the commitment and creativity necessary to design engaging experiences to achieve results that exceed expectations.  It also helps students, families, and staff create and implement Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPS).

Primary Responsibilities:

Responsibilities of this job include, but are not limited to…ensures all students are valued, inspired, and have a sense of belonging within Spring Lake Park Schools and Woodcrest Spanish Immersion;
coordinates and leads school special education services, including, but not limited to: scheduling staff (teachers and paras), ensuring Due Process compliance, effectively managing special education data, and collaborates on student transitions between settings to ensure they are smooth and appropriate;
acts as the building leader for staff, students and families when the principal is off-site;
leads the school’s Pit Crew team, including review of schoolwide behavior data, documenting behavioral interventions, making referrals to behavior specialists, and communicating with families;
assists with the design and implementation of professional learning at both the school and district levels;
actively collaborates with the Student Services Director and other Student Services Coordinators to ensure coherence and alignment in services between schools, and has direct responsibility for district-level projects, as assigned by the Director;
conducts informal and formal Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBAs) and analyses, as well as collecting and analyzing student data;
models and coaches other school staff on the implementation of targeted behavior plans, while collaborating with principals, special education coordinators and staff, and professional learning communities, to ensure student needs are being met;
communicates with parents to provide regular updates on student successes and challenges;
participates in IEP and evaluation summary meetings and maintain student records of services provided, following Due Process best practices and compliance;  and
aligns the work of adults and creates the conditions for effective implementation of systems, to continuously improve personalized instruction and responsiveness, to meet our students’ unique and varied needs;

Mounds Park Academy seeks a part-time Middle and Upper School Physical Education teacher for the 2019–2020 school year. The ideal candidate should exhibit a wide range of teaching skills, have significant Physical Education and Health content knowledge and have the ability to engage motivated students to learn.

In addition to the Physical Education teaching position, MPA currently has the following coaching opportunities for the 2019-2020 academic year:

 

·         Boys’ Varsity Soccer Coach (fall)

·         Boys’ Varsity Assistant Soccer Coach  (fall)

·         Upper School Girls Basketball Coach (winter)

·         Middle school boys’ soccer (fall) and basketball coach (winter)

 

Qualified candidates may be considered for open coaching opportunities.

 

It is expected that a successful candidate would:

Teach multiple sections of Middle and Upper School Physical Education classes through the use of age appropriate lessons.
Motivate students of varying ability
Differentiate instruction for skill development and fitness
Inspire an enjoyment for lifetime physical fitness
Supervise, encourage, counsel, and evaluate students
§  Foster and sustain an effective learning and fitness environment

§  Utilize and incorporate available resources and activities for instruction

Communicate and meet with students and parents during scheduled conferences and as necessary
Participate in Physical Education Department and staff development activities
Collaborate as a member of a team
Show a willingness to contribute to the life of the school outside of the classroom
Perform additional duties as needed (serve on school-wide committees, advise a student club, etc.)
