Position Start Date: ASAP
FTE/Hours:  1.0 FTE  8:00 am – 4:00 pm
Responsible To:  Building Principal
License Required: 5-8 Science, 5-12 Biology, or 5-12 Physical Science license issued from the Minnesota Professional Educator Licensing and Standards Board (PELSB), or holds a State of MN teaching license and is eligible to obtain an Out of Field Permmission.

Major Job Functions; Specific Tasks/Required Knowledge, Ability and Skills:  Teach middle school science. See attachment

Compensation and Yearly Duration of Employment:  Compensation will be determined by District 112 and the Chaska Education Association (CEA).

School Psychologist

Position is full-time, for the 2024-2025 school year and part of the teacher bargaining unit and based at Mahtomedi High School and Mahtomedi Middle School.  Salary and benefits part of the Master Agreement.

Job Summary:
Mahtomedi Public Schools is seeking a highly-talented School Psychologist to join our team at Mahtomedi High School and Middle School.  This position has approximately 75 evaluations per year.

Professional Support:

  • Regular connection and collaboration with other district school psychologists
  • Support and consultation from the building and district administrative team
  • New staff mentorship program, including time to meet regularly with a mentor

Qualifications:

Applicants who will hold the following credentials by August 28, 2024 are welcome to apply. We will work with applicants whose license is in process.

  • Minnesota Teacher License:  School Psychologist

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conducts psychological assessments, functional behavioral analysis
  • Facilitates communication between teachers, administrators, parents and students to find solutions to academic, behavioral, and mental health problems
  • Provides psychological counseling based on IEP goals and objectives
  • Evaluates the effectiveness of academic and behavioral management programs being used; disseminates research for use in evaluations and programs
  • Participate in data-team (screening/progress monitoring) and child-study team (individual problem-solving) meetings
  • Serve as knowledgeable resource for team members regarding due process rules and procedures
  • Complete additional duties as assigned by the Director of Student Support Services

Special Education Teacher – SLD

The position is full-time and part of the teacher bargaining unit.  The position will be serving students at OH Anderson Elementary, grades 3-5.  Salary and benefits are part of the Master Agreement

Minimum Requirements:
Must have a valid MN teaching license: SLD, ASD or ABS license, or be able to obtain the appropriate license from PELSB, Professional Educator Licensing and Standards Board.

Qualifications:

  • Thorough knowledge of the principles and methodology of effective teaching
  • Strong knowledge of special education state laws and compliance to ensure IEPS are completed timely
  • Ability to establish and maintain standards of student behavior
  • Ability to comprehend complex data to deliver articulate oral presentations and written reports
  • Collaborative team member of a Professional Learning Community, striving to implement best practices for instruction and assessment
  • Proven leadership skills and the ability to build effective relationships with colleagues, students and parents
  • Seeks opportunities to improve their practice through coaching feedback and ongoing reflection
  • Excellent communication skills: ability to communicate thoughts and ideas with accuracy and clarity, ability to communicate effectively with parents/guardians regarding student progress, student goals and abilities and overall experience in their classroom
  • Calm demeanor and a strong passion for working with kids

Responsibilities:

  • Identify the needs of students through formal and informal assessments
  • Plan, develop and implement appropriate lessons to ensure the achievement of student growth
  • Communicate with students, parents and staff on regular basis on student progress and work in collaboration for positive student outcomes
  • Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students and use information to adjust teaching strategies.
  • Use of data for progress monitoring and tracking.
  • Update all necessary records accurately as required by laws, district policies and school regulations
  • Attend department, school and parent meetings or functions
  • Other job-related duties as assigned
