The Director of Finance for District 288 is responsible for the fiscal management of the District, providing leadership for the Business Office, IT and facilities. The Director of Finance provides leadership and coordination in the administration of the District’s financial funds, accounting systems, operating budgets and monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports in compliance with all state and federal reporting requirements.
Financial Management
• Evaluate, develop and implement a processes for business office procedures in compliance with state and federal laws
• Review and approve expenditures for goods and services and payroll
• Review and approve general ledger journal entries
• Coordinate billings for services to member districts
• Oversee the upkeep of capital assets
• Direct, supervise and evaluate the Business Office, Building and Grounds and IT departments
Financial Reporting
• Review internal financial reports and worksheets
• Coordinate and review monthly, quarterly and annual reports as required
• Administer fiscal portion of federal programs as needed
• Coordinate and review reports, worksheets and data related to audit, respond to auditor’s questions and resolves identified issues
Budgeting
• Prepares operating budgets, projecting revenues and expenditures, reviews and modifies budgets as necessary
• Monitor budgets to be in compliance with state and federal reporting guidelines
• Prepare capital expenditure budget and five-year capital improvement plan
• Prepare cost studies on programs as needed
Risk Management
• Administer District insurance programs to ensure adequate coverage levels
• Administer District employee insurance programs in compliance with state and federal laws and employee contracts
Other
• Assist with employee contract negotiations, providing data and insight to contract proposals
• Perform other duties as assigned
