SUMMARY:
To help students learn subject matter and skills that will contribute to their development as mature, able, and responsible men and women.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Other duties may be assigned.

Communicates, collaborates, and cooperates with colleagues, supervisors, and students.
Teaches District approved curriculum.
Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated.
Plans a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students.
Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interest of the students.
Encourages students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior.
Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and –in harmony with the goals–establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects and the like to communicate these objectives to students.
Diagnoses the learning disabilities of students.
Evaluates pupils’ academic and social growth, keeps appropriate records and prepares progress reports.
Is available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day.
Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
Employs a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media, consistent with the physical limitations of the location provided and the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved.
Assists the administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct, and, for the classroom, develops reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedure, and maintains order in the classroom in a fair and just manner.
Assesses the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provides progress reports as required.
Diagnoses the learning disabilities of students on a regular basis, seeking the assistance of district specialists as required.
Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulations.
Is available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day.

The Thief River Falls Public Schools District’s main office is located in Thief River Falls, Minnesota. The school district has an approximate enrollment of 1,900 kindergarten through grade twelve students.

LEADERSHIP PROFILE: The Thief River Falls School Board seeks a superintendent who:

Previous superintendent experience preferred, but not required.

SALARY/CONTRACT:  The current superintendent’s base salary for the 2021-2022 school year is $144,000. The final salary will be negotiated commensurate with experience and qualifications. The contract length is negotiable as provided in Minnesota statute.

PRINCIPAL – NORTHERN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
