Health Science Careers Teacher – (Full-time, 1.00 FTEs)
Mankato Area Public Schools has a full-time (1.00 FTEs) position available as a Health Science Careers Teacher beginning with the 2019-20 school year.
Summary of duties: Teaching includes Intro to Health Occupations, Disease & Disorder, Nursing Assistant and Emergency Care. Teacher will deliver instruction to senior high students that is designed to develop students’ understanding of health care systems, medical communication, ethics, and safety issues for patients and providers.
Qualifications: Medical Careers license, or willingness to obtain. Prefer candidates with background in health related field. CPR and First Aid Trainer certification, or willingness to obtain, also required.
Other Information: Must be able to structure and deliver a class based on national standards, display appropriate classroom management skills, manage budget, maintain and update equipment, work with industry partners and post-secondary institutions. Position Summary:
Provide guidance and counseling assistance to students in grades 9-12. Knowledge, skill, and understanding in best practices as it relates to career and college readiness and personal/social counseling required. Strong interpersonal and leadership skills. Ability to understand and use academic data to drive decisions for school and students. Highly motivated individual who can work well with others and has excellent organizational skills. Detail orientated tracking of student credit acquisition towards graduation standards. Coordinates with community business partners with the intent of helping students secure career options. Coordinates with post-secondary institutions in order to support the Early Middle College program. Tracks and coordinates 504 plans.
