Mankato Area Public Schools has a position available for an Interim Professional Development Coordinator with the Teaching and Learning department. This is a full-time, 12-month, non-affiliated position with Category III benefits beginning July 1 and ending June 30, 2020.

Start Date: July 1, 2019 – June 30, 2020

Summary of Duties:To research, develop, and deliver, for all District employees, professional development programs and opportunities which are consistent with, and supportive of, the continuous improvement, vision, and mission of the District and the enhancement of student learning.

Required Qualifications:
(1) Five or more years of teaching and/or administrative experience
(2) Minimum of a Master’s Degree required, K-12 Admin Ed Leadership preferred
(3) Training and/or experience in professional development, instructional design, or human resource development.

Dean of Students – Prairie Winds & Dakota Meadows Middle Schools

Prairie Winds Middle School and Dakota Meadows Middle School

Two full-time (1.00 FTEs) positions as Dean of Students are available.  One position is at Prairie Winds Middle School and one position is at Dakota Meadows Middle School beginning with the 2019-20 school year.

Summary of duties:  A teacher on special assignment as a Dean of Students is responsible for assisting the Principal in a variety of activities, with emphasis on engaging student learners and developing student leaders.  The work year will align with the teacher contract plus an additional ten days.

Qualifications Required: Administrative licensure, or enrollment in a graduate program that will result in administrative licensure is preferred.

Position Requirements:
The Senior High School Principal must demonstrate accomplished leadership skills, excellent organizational skills, highly developed communications skills, and in-depth knowledge of instruction and educational issues. Demonstrated participation in equity leadership professional development and/or experience in equity programming. Ability to evaluate instructional program and teaching effectiveness. Comprehensive knowledge of the policies, practices, methods and techniques used in the administration and supervision of a school; thorough knowledge of prescribed school board policies and procedures; thorough skill in oral and written communication; thorough skill in the use of personal computers and related software packages, hardware and peripheral equipment; thorough skills in outstanding leadership and personal characteristics; ability to motivate others to reach their fullest potential; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, the School Board, parents, elected officials, students, staff, superintendent and the general public. Secondary or K-12 Principal Licensure is required. Minimum of four years of successful secondary administrative experience is preferred.

Other Skills & Abilities:
Specific knowledge based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job. Flexibility is required to independently work with others in a wide variety of circumstances; analyze data utilizing a variety of complex processes. Demonstrated experience and ability is required to work with diversity of individuals and/or groups; ability to create a safe, orderly, positive school climate for students and staff; ability to foster growth, creativity and flexibility; ability to facilitate resolution of complex interpersonal issues; knowledge and skill in fiscal management and human relations; knowledge and demonstrative skills in the use of technology for teaching and learning; managerial skill in planning, organizing, delegating and listening; knowledge of innovations in education, alternative instructional strategies, alternative assessment methods, blended instructional support, and co-teaching; ability to react in emergency situations to include intervening and as necessary, consistent with District policy. Consistent and reliable attendance.

Elementary Teacher

Qualifications:
Valid MN Elementary Teaching license. Demonstrated use of 21st Century strategies and approaches to ensure all learners achieve the highest levels. Candidate will have a solid background in equity, believing and ensuring all students learn at high levels. Experience in balanced literacy, co-teaching, and utilizing an integrated approach to instruction across all content areas and a background in STEAM and Everyday Math beneficial. Consistent and reliable attendance is required.  Bi-lingual skills in Spanish or Somali desired.

Graduate Teaching Fellowship, English

2019-20 Graduate Teaching Fellowships

Minnesota State University, Mankato

Openings are available for the Graduate Teaching Fellow Program (classroom experience while working on a masters degree program in Education).  Applicants must have a Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts Teaching degree.

Seniors in a teacher education program who will complete all requirements for a Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science Teaching degree, complete all required testing, and obtain appropriate Minnesota teacher licensure by August, 2019, or recent teacher education graduates (who have not held regular teaching appointments) are eligible to apply.  Application deadline:  April 5, 2019, or until filled.
