Mankato Area Public Schools has a position available for an Assistant Director of Facilities beginning as soon as possible.    This is a full-time, 8 hours per day/5 days per week, 12-month non-affiliated position.

Job Summary:
– Assist the Director of Facilities in the supervision, planning, organization, and scheduling the work of custodial staff and various craft workers, such as HVAC (heating, ventilation and air conditioning), repair workers, carpenters, electricians, plumbers, and painters.

– Assist in managing daily staffing needs, tracking absences related to vacation or illness, certification of biweekly payroll, authorization of overtime for facility department staff, and reviewing work performance of the facility department employees.

– Assist in developing and administering custodial/maintenance programs, grounds management programs, and SchoolDude work order and preventative maintenance programs.

– Through direction from the Director of Facilities, oversee sub-contractors on repairs, installations, small construction remodeling, grounds improvements and maintenance projects.

– Assist the Director of Facilities with design review and preparing specifications and plans, conducting pre-bid walk-throughs, bid openings, preconstruction meetings and final walk-throughs.

– Assist the Director of Facilities with State and Federal inspections: (MN Dept. of Education, MN Dept. of Health, MN Pollution Control Agency, State Fire Marshall, and MN OSHA).

– Assist in the preparation and administration of all department budgets and analysis.

– Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.

Qualifications Required:
– Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field or equivalent combination of education and work experience in the maintenance and operation of building systems supporting PreK-12  education or similar facility.  A minimum of five years’ experience.

– Valid State of Minnesota Chief C Engineer License or obtained within one year

– Valid Minnesota driver’s license

– MASMS Certification in Facility Management or obtained within two years

Other Information:
Wages: $60,000 – $65, 000
Benefits: Non-Affiliated, Category III

Accountant

POSITION: ACCOUNTANT – Full-Time Position; 52 weeks per year

JOB DESCRIPTION: Assist the business manager with all aspects of Federal and State funding and allocations, food service account collections and audit preparation throughout the year and at year-end.  Prepare the following monthly reconciliations for the business manager to review:  bank/cash, credit card receipts, student activity bank account, payroll liability account, food service deposits, online payments/receipts and other areas as needed.  Maintain retiree benefit records, billing and bank drafts.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

·       4 Year Accounting Degree Required with 5+ years’ experience in general accounting; MN School District accounting a plus

·       Highly skilled in dealing with financial and numeric data

·       Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize workload in order to meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment

·       Using and applying accounting and financial software and programs in the preparation and maintenance of accounting records

·       Good oral and written communications

·       Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with employees, supervisors, department heads, and community members.

·       Using and operating office equipment and computers and applying office productivity software such as word processing, Adobe Pro, database or customized software utilized by the department. Advanced knowledge of Excel is a plus

·       Performing work assignments requiring attention to detail, precision and accuracy and in accordance with set deadlines under minimal direction and supervision

·       Experience with computerized ledger systems

·       Strong problem solving and analytical skills and have the ability to function well in a team-oriented environment
