Job Summary:
– Assist the Director of Facilities in the supervision, planning, organization, and scheduling the work of custodial staff and various craft workers, such as HVAC (heating, ventilation and air conditioning), repair workers, carpenters, electricians, plumbers, and painters.
– Manage daily staffing needs, tracking absences related to vacation or illness, certification of biweekly payroll, authorization of overtime for facility department staff, and reviewing work performance of the facility department employees.
– Develope and administer custodial/maintenance programs, grounds management programs, and SchoolDude work order and preventative maintenance programs.
– Through direction from the Director of Facilities, oversee sub-contractors on repairs, installations, small construction remodeling, grounds improvements and maintenance projects.
– Assist the Director of Facilities with design review and preparing specifications and plans, conducting pre-bid walk-throughs, bid openings, preconstruction meetings and final walk-throughs.
– Assist with after hours and weekend emergency calls involving facility needs.
– Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.
Qualifications Required:
– Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field or equivalent combination of education and work experience in the maintenance and operation of building systems supporting PreK-12 education or similar facility. A minimum of five years’ experience.
– Valid State of Minnesota Chief C Engineer License or obtained within one year
– Valid Minnesota driver’s license
– MASMS Certification in Facility Management or obtained within two years
