Mankato Area Public Schools is seeking a Principal on Special Assignment beginning July 1, 2024, for the 2024-25 school year.

Summary of Duties:
The Principal on Special Assignment will support elementary school principals and schools as they develop, implement, and coordinate the transition of three elementary schools to be choice schools within the school district.  Under the general supervision of the Superintendent/Designee, they are responsible for providing support to building leadership for the effective management of all aspects of the educational program at the assigned school sites. Some of the duties include being an instructional leader and providing overall supervision, guidance and support of all assigned staff and ensuring the safe and orderly environment of the school site on a daily basis.

The Principal on Special Assignment will support elementary school principals in the following ways:

  • Assist to develop, advocate and enact a shared mission, vision and core values of high-quality education and academic success and well-being of each student.
  • Assist to develop and support the implementation of intellectually rigorous and coherent systems of curriculum, instruction and assessment to promote each student’s academic success and wellbeing.
  • Assist to cultivate an inclusive, caring and supportive school community that promotes the academic success and well-being of each student.
  • Assist to develop the professional capacity and practice of school personnel to promote each student’s academic success and well-being.
  • Assist to foster a professional community of staff to promote each student’s academic success and well-being.
  • Assist to engage families and the community in meaningful, reciprocal and mutually beneficial ways to promote each student’s academic success and well-being.
  • Use data to support informed decision making.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • MN Licensure as a K-12 or Elementary Principal
  • Three years successful teaching experience

Rate of Pay:
$133,858 – $143,358 per Master Agreement

Openings are available for the Graduate Teaching Fellow Program (classroom experience while working on a masters degree program in Education).  Applicants must have a Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts Teaching degree in Elementary Education.

Seniors in a teacher education program who will complete all requirements for a Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science Teaching degree and obtain appropriate Minnesota teacher licensure by August, 2024, or recent teacher education graduates (who have not held regular teaching appointments) are eligible to apply.  Application deadline:  until filled.

Elementary School Counselor

There is a full-time (1.00 FTEs) Elementary School Counselor position available at Eagle Lake Elementary School for the 2024-25 school year.

Summary of Duties:

Mankato Area Public Schools currently has an opening for a licensed school counselor at Eagle Lake Elementary. School Counselors serve a vital role in supporting the whole child. We are seeking candidates that support inclusive, equitable, and safe learning environments. Duties may include, but are not limited to:

  • Listening to students’ concerns about academic, emotional, or social concerns
  • Leading monthly SEL classroom lessons
  • Helping students process problems and plan goals and actions related to student support
  • Mediate conflict between students and teachers
  • Improve parent/teacher relationships
  • Facilitate Rising Scholar enrichment groups for students
  • Refer students to psychologists and other mental health resources
  • Work on academic boards to improve learning conditions
  • Collaborate with school social workers and school psychologists in support of student needs (SEL, Attendance, Resources, Assessments, etc.)
  • Coordinate and support 504 development and implementation

Qualifications Required:  
MN licensure in School Counseling

High School Assistant Principal

The successful candidate will work with the building principal to ensure optimal educational achievement, work with staff on managing student behavior, and staff development, manage after-school programs, work with special education staff and students, Student development/behavior, work with parents and the community to meet building and district goals and create an excellent working and learning environment.  This position requires late afternoon/evening duties to administer middle school programs.

Desired Qualifications:

•       Minnesota K-12 Principal License
•       Five years of successful teaching and other leadership positions
•       Prior administrative experience preferred but not required
