Hoover Elementary

There is a full-time (1.0 FTEs) Elementary School Counselor position available at Hoover Elementary School for the 2023-24 school year.

Summary of Duties: Mankato Area Public Schools currently has an opening for a licensed school counselor at Hoover Elementary. School Counselors serve a vital role in supporting the whole child. We are seeking candidates that support inclusive, equitable, and safe learning environments. Duties may include, but are not limited to:

Listening to students’ concerns about academic, emotional, or social concerns.
Leading monthly SEL classroom lessons
Helping students process problems and plan goals and actions related to student support
Mediate conflict between students and teachers
Improve parent/teacher relationships
Facilitate Rising Scholar enrichment groups for students
Refer students to psychologists and other mental health resources
Work on academic boards to improve learning conditions
Collaborate with school social workers and school psychologists in support of student needs (SEL, Attendance, Resources, Assessments, etc.)
Coordinate and support 504 development and implementation

Qualifications Required:  MN licensure in School Counseling

Middle School Guidance Counselor or School Social Worker

Position Summary:
The Counselor or School Social Worker shall be an integral part of the total instructional program directed toward the growth and development of all students who come from diverse, cultural, economic and ability backgrounds.  Assist students with personal goal setting, family systems/change and crisis intervention.  The Counselor/school Social Worker shall also strive to provide a positive atmosphere in which students are encouraged and assisted to develop feelings of acceptance, self-respect, emotional security, and achievement. OMS counselors are also responsible for generating and updating 504 plans for the students they serve while School Social Workers help meet IEP goals for students receiving special education services.

Qualifications:
Valid Minnesota Guidance & Counseling or School Counselor licensure. Bachelor’s degree with coursework in School Guidance Counseling, or related field and moderate experience.  Master’s degree and MN School Social Work license required.

Other Skills & Abilities: 
Thorough knowledge of the policies, procedures, methods and techniques used for assessing sociological and academic needs of individual students; thorough knowledge of working with students from diverse cultural, economic, and ability backgrounds; thorough knowledge and training and experience with the developmental levels of students, issues surrounding chemical dependency, abuse, family change, as well as working knowledge of federal and state special education laws and rules.  Demonstrated skills and knowledge in the areas of academic planning, personal goal setting, family systems/change, and crisis intervention. Thorough skills in the use of personal computers and related software packages, hardware and peripheral equipment.  Ability to establish and maintain standards of behavior; ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team; ability to make arithmetic computations using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals; ability to compute rates, ratios and percentages; ability to work with and through other school personnel, parents and community agencies; ability to communicate and establish effective working relationships with students, parents, teachers and administrators.  Must understand and comply with all protocols related to data privacy.  Consistent and reliable attendance.

Technology Education/Gateway to Technology Teacher

Elementary Education Teacher

Qualifications:
Valid MN Elementary Teaching license. Bi-lingual skills in Spanish or Somali desired. Demonstrated use of 21st Century strategies and approaches to ensure all learners achieve the highest levels. Positive behavior intervention and supports. Experience in utilizing an inquiry approach to instruction across all content areas and a background in STEM and integration of Literacy and Numeracy beneficial.

Elementary School Counselor

The Elementary Counselor will serve as a student-centered educator who is a learner, advocate, and warm demander for all learners.  Counselor is responsible for providing educational services with an emphasis on supporting student’s social emotional needs, mental health, engagement, and overall student experience.  Counselor will coordinate with staff, administration, and families to ensure their effectiveness in supporting every learner, every day.  The Counselor shall also strive to provide a positive atmosphere in which students are encouraged and assisted to develop feelings of acceptance, self-respect, emotional security, and high levels of achievement.   Candidate must have a learner, inclusionary, and equity-focused mindset and see that their presence has an impact with students and our school environment.  Position begins August 2023.

Position Requirements:
Valid Minnesota licensure. Bachelor’s degree with coursework in K-12 School Counseling, or related field and moderate experience.  Master’s degree preferred.

MTSS Specialist

Position Summary:  
Owatonna Public Schools provides big-school opportunities in a right-sized setting to ensure opportunities for all students are realized in the classroom and in life.  We are a close-knit community of educators with high expectations for our schools and its students.  An MTSS Specialist is responsible for planning and implementing early intervention strategies to support the whole child. The position is responsible for collaborating closely with the building administrator, educators, support staff, families and students to deliver a tiered framework that uses vision for MTSS. This includes direct instruction and intervention, modeling of lessons, and professional development on effective intervention strategies and Tier 1 through Tier 3 interventions in and out of the classroom.

Position Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university and current state teaching certificate in assigned field. Master’s in Education and Reading License/Certification preferred. Minimum of five (5) years of classroom teaching experience or any equivalent combination of education and intervention experience that would allow the candidate to satisfactorily perform the duties of this position, may be considered.
