Middle School Principal

Position Summary:
The Middle School Principal is the building instructional leader and administers the building instructional and co-curricular program; maintains an effective educational program consistent with state and federal guidelines and the philosophy, policies and goals of the School Board; supervises the building staff; coordinates student services; maintains records and files, and prepares reports; directs the management of the MS budget and materials; works cooperatively with district communications staff; coordinates the site leadership team; and related work as apparent or assigned.  Work is performed under the limited supervision of the Superintendent.

Position Requirements:
Successful junior high/middle or upper elementary level teaching and administrative experience. Experience in a variety of educational settings, demonstrated effectiveness working with children and families from diverse backgrounds. Licensure as required by the State of MN for School Administrators.

PE/Health Teacher (Owatonna Middle School and Owatonna Online)

Provide physical education and health education at Owatonna Middle School and Owatonna Online. Ability to think progressively about PE and Health education. Open to teaching regular PE, electives within PE, and Health. Strong connections with students and willingness to support both schools through PE and Health.

Setting III Special Education Teacher on Special Assignment (TOSA)

Position Summary: 
Primarily supports Setting 3 specialized programming, and corresponding staff, with appropriate practices, procedures, and strategies to increase the success of students and transitions across special education settings.  Facilitates independent professional work surrounding Setting 3 to assist the Special Services Department, building principals, and educators in special education process and procedure, and legal and program compliance. Facilitates professional development and corresponding coaching regarding trauma responsive strategies, environmental management, behavior regulation, and specially designed instruction in content areas.  Acts as administrative designee when needed in Individual Educational Program meetings and Child Study Teams. This position will build meaningful relationships with students and staff and help lead the efforts to build a student-centered, culturally relevant, positive school culture. As a TOSA, the position may work in a variety of buildings and educational settings. TOSAs share in the responsibility for student safety and appropriate collaboration and attention to each student’s readiness to learn including needed guidance, discipline and welfare.

Position Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree, a valid Minnesota special education teaching license; and a minimum of five years teaching experience as a special educator.  Experience with Setting 3 preferred.

English/Language Arts Teacher

This position will be part of the ALC Campus.  Typical courses may include: English 9, 10, 11, and 12, Communication and Speech, and Creative Writing.  Must be able to build and maintain strong relationships with students, willing to learn and ask questions as needed, and a team player.
