Early Childhood Special Education Teacher

Position Summary:
This position is for an Early Childhood Special Education Teacher (ages 0-5).  The position performs professional work providing a broad range of consulting, teaching and direct instructional services to children with special needs and their families.  Applicants should demonstrate flexibility in providing professional work in a variety of settings; i.e. homes, daycares, self-contained preschool classrooms, co-taught preschool classrooms, and community-based preschool environments. The position includes all duties of an ECSE teacher, including special education evaluations and ongoing assessments; training will be provided as needed.

Qualifications:
MN Teaching License in the area of Early Childhood Special Education or related services. Consistent and reliable attendance.

Industrial Technology/Career and Technical Education Instructor – High School (1.0 FTE)

The certified teacher develops lesson plans, conducts classroom instruction, evaluates and assesses instructional material and student performance. The teacher interprets student progress and communicates regularly with parents about student strengths, weaknesses, and/or programs. The teacher is a member of an interdisciplinary team and works collaboratively with colleagues to make decisions about team programming and supporting students through intervention and enrichment.

Secondary Special Education EBD Teacher – 2023-24 School Year

Position Summary:
This Special Education Teacher position is part of Owatonna High School’s Discovery program. Discovery classrooms provide trauma-responsive specialized programming and instruction for students who require support with dysregulation and displays that impact learning. Discovery teachers work closely within a team structure which includes paraprofessionals, behavior interventionists, school social workers, related service providers, and administration. Students also access general education courses as appropriate to their educational plan; the Discovery teacher plans jointly with the general education teacher to provide the accommodations and modifications necessary in order for the student to access and make progress within the general education curriculum.

All members of the Discovery program are highly trained and supported; They utilize Life Space Crisis Intervention strategies and track individual student data through the Performance Tracking System. Weekly team meetings and joint planning provide clarity and consistency for both staff and students.

Qualifications:
Valid MN Special Education Teaching – EBD or ABS licensure required.  Experience with Setting III specialized programming for students struggling with behavior and dysregulation preferred.  Consistent and reliable attendance is required.

Superintendent of Schools

The New Ulm Public School District is seeking a Superintendent as of July 1, 2023, or as soon hereafter as is practical. Candidates must possess licensure as a Superintendent in the State of Minnesota or demonstrate their ability to secure licensure by July 1, 2023. Previous experience as a superintendent is preferred but not required.

New Ulm Public Schools is located 70 miles southwest of the Minneapolis/St. Paul Metro area on US Highway 14. The school district serves approximately 2,200 students from Pre-K through grade 12. The students are served in five school sites. New Ulm Public School leads the region in college readiness, CTE programming, and school readiness. The communities recently voted to renew the existing operating levy for another ten years.

Adult Education Teacher

Position Summary:
Provide basic education instruction in Owatonna Public Schools Adult Learning Center to improve educational outcomes for adult learners in the mastery of skills needed to compete and build careers  Responsibilities include lesson planning and instruction, conducting ongoing assessment, monitoring student attendance and outreach, collaborating with other staff on curriculum and content development, keeping student records and supporting volunteers.  Requires using inquiry and cooperative teaching strategies to deliver instruction through in-person and hy-flex learning environments. The teaching/learning relationship that supports and encourages the success of every adult learner through the center’s career pathways is held to the highest standards. Successful candidates will have strong, implementation-based knowledge of Minnesota Adult Basic Education content standards and demonstrated experience delivering instruction through multi-agency and community-based learning partnerships. Adult courses utlize the integrated education and training model to deliver English as a Second Language, GED Preparation, College and Career Readiness, Workforce Preparation and Career Pathway Programming. The primary focus of this position will be to provide instructional content that fosters essential learning skills in adult reading instruction and on-site community-based learning partnerships. Multiple paid professional development oppotunities included in this assignment.

Qualifications:
A valid MN teaching license. Highly skilled in virtual learning platforms and digital literacy. Demonstrated use of innovative strategies and approaches to ensure all learners achieve at high levels.  Experience in utilizing inquiry and collaborative teaching/learning approaches to instruction across all GED, ESL and Career Pathway content areas preferred with documented training and/or experience in using ABE’s College and Career Readiness Standards for Adult Education (CCRS) and Academic, Career and Employability Skills (ACES) Transitions Integration Framework (TIF). Prefer experience in using evidence based reading strategies to support adult learning progress. Previous experience in working with adult learners in an interactive, results-oriented environment preferred.  Strong communication and organizational skills.  Ability to be flexible and function well in a busy environment with high expectations for students and staff.  Ability to work as a teacher-leader in building a collaborative learning partnership highly prized in a successful candidate. Bi-lingual skills desired. Consistent and reliable attendance a must.

Special Education Teacher – Elementary (School Year 2023-2024)

Position Summary:
The Teacher is a stand-alone classification.  Performs difficult professional work providing a broad range of teaching and direct instructional services or specific learning programs within District curriculum guidelines, assisting students to develop skills, attitudes and knowledge needed as a foundation for future learning in accordance with each student’s ability, using a variety of teaching and learning methods at various levels to a targeted audience, and related work as apparent or assigned.  Work is performed under the limited supervision of the Building Principal.  Continuous oversight is exercised over paraprofessionals.

Qualifications:
A valid Special Education teaching license issued by the Minnesota Department of Education (consideration of all Special Education categories). Consistent and reliable attendance is required.
