The Minnesota School Boards Association (MSBA) is a private, nonprofit organization founded in 1920. We are located in St. Peter, Minnesota. MSBA prides itself as being a “Go-To” education association by providing workshops, resources, services, and connections designed to help school boards save time, reduce expenses, govern efficiently, and stay inspired.

Position

MSBA is seeking a full-time Executive Assistant. This position has a hybrid working model; it requires occasional evening and weekend hours.

Primary Responsibilities

The Executive Assistant will:

  • Manage multiple calendars, schedule appointments, and arrange travel plans and itineraries with a high degree of accuracy, efficiency, and professionalism while anticipating challenges and conflicting priorities.
  • Screen communications for action items and due dates, bringing key items to the executive director’s or staff’s attention, and initiate necessary actions (e.g., respond independently, follow-up, prioritization, etc.).
  • Organize meetings by arranging all logistics (e.g., facilities, menus, agendas, etc.).
  • Create effective and accurate correspondence, memos, minutes, presentations, and reports.
  • Prioritize conflicting needs; utilize strong critical thinking, discretion, and follow-through skills to ensure successful completion of various tasks and projects including those of a sensitive or confidential nature.
  • Serve as primary liaison with board of directors; interact with individuals at all levels of the Association and members.

Qualifications

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Experience coordinating travel and meetings including virtual and all-day, off-site in-person events.
  • Proactive – ability to think beyond task at hand; analyze information and act.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office 365.

Special Education Teacher Long Term Substitute

Board Development and Member Engagement Coordinator

Position

MSBA is seeking a full-time Board Development and Member Engagement Coordinator to join the Board Development Team. This position has a hybrid working model; it requires occasional evening and weekend hours.

Primary Responsibilities

The Board Development and Member Engagement Coordinator will:

  • Maintain and publish the Association calendar of programs and events.
  • Assist with planning Association programs and events.
  • Work closely with the Communications and Marketing team to create and implement a communication and promotion strategy for Association programs and events.
  • Design and prepare surveys, general correspondence, memos, and materials. Proofread copy for spelling, grammar, and layout; responsible for accuracy and clarity of final copy.
  • Foster relationships with members and facilitate handling requests for information.
  • Provide operational and administrative support.

Qualifications

  • Ability to exercise independent judgement and problem-solving skills, multitask, prioritize daily workload, and complete work accurately and on time.
  • Analyze information and make recommendations.
  • Creativity, interpersonal savvy, and the ability to manage diversity.
  • Demonstrated project management and time management skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office 365, virtual meeting platforms, and survey software; experience in using a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system is desirable.

Openings are available for the Graduate Teaching Fellow Program (classroom experience while working on a masters degree program in Education).  Applicants must have a Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts Teaching degree in Elementary Education.

Seniors in a teacher education program who will complete all requirements for a Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science Teaching degree, complete all required testing, and obtain appropriate Minnesota teacher licensure by August, 2022, or recent teacher education graduates (who have not held regular teaching appointments) are eligible to apply.  Application deadline:  until filled.
