Reading Intervention Teacher

Position Summary:
This teaching opening is for a Reading Intervention Teacher at Lincoln Elementary School.  The teacher will work with small groups of students to improve their reading ability.  Collecting student reading data and implementing an appropriate reading intervention are the main focus of the job.  This position works closely with our two Reading Corps tutors and classroom teachers to meet the needs of students.

Qualifications:
Candidate should have a MN license and experience teaching K-5 and a Reading Specialist Certification is preferred.

Reports to: Special Education Teachers, Personnel Team

Supervised by: Special Education Teachers, Indirect supervision by the Special Education Director

Job Summary:

The Special Education Paraprofessional supports the district instructional program for special education students and each student’s educational goals as established in the Individual Education Plan.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

(Other special education duties may be assigned)

Acts as a liaison with advisors for the purpose of ensuring the implementation of the IEP for an assigned student.
Help students monitor and follow individual work plans
Provides accommodations to students as defined on the IEP
Assesses student progress on IEP goals for the purpose of progress reporting
Assists certified staff in the implementation of the IEP.
Provides thorough and timely reports/documentation of information, as requested.
Consults with the appropriate school personnel directly responsible for the implementation of IEP for disabled students
Assists with record keeping and filing
Attend proposal team, with students with whom instruction is provided
Document behavior
Attend professional development seminars as recommended by Special Education Advisors
Obtain current training in special education disability categories
Maintain crisis intervention training, certification
MNCS Duties and Responsibilities

Develop and carry out yearly professional development plan
Follow direction of EdVisions Co-op and the MNCS Board of Directors
Assist in chaperoning events and field trips, and outside PE and archery, as defined by IEP’s
May serve on site based committees
Attend staff meetings and Special Service Team meetings.
Education and experience:

2 year Degree preferred (AAS) or passed ParaPro exam

Three years outside experience

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

Para Professional Certification as required by the State of Minnesota

Communication Skills:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or government regulations.
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from administrators, staff, and general public.

Mathematical skills:

Ability to apply concepts such as basic arithmetic calculations, fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations that are directly related to the duties of this position.
Ability to gather and graph data related to student progress.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule formats.

Other Skills and Abilities:

Demonstrates patience, respect, and understanding for students.
Demonstrates a sense of professional responsibility.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Ability to perform duties in full compliance with special education district requirements and school board policy.

School Psychologist

Position Summary:
Under the direction of the Director of Special Services, the Licensed School Psychologist is directly responsible for the psychological assessment of academic, social, emotional and behavioral domains utilizing problem-solving and standardized evaluations. The School Psychologist monitors the completion of case study evaluations and participates in Individual Education Plan (IEP) conferences, problem-solving meetings, designing systems, programs and services that maximize students’ social, emotional and educational success. In collaboration with staff, families, students, and communities, the school psychologist promotes effective educational environments.  Working collaboratively with other School Psychologists will develop consistent systems that meet the needs of students.  A School Psychologist should possess excellent communication skills, effective partnership skills and be a solutions-based thinker.

Position Requirements:
Ed.S, in School Psychology or comparable; licensed as a School Psychologist by the MN Board of Teaching.
