Elementary Special Education Teacher

Position Summary:
As an Owatonna Special Education teacher, you have the opportunity to set the tone for learning for the rest of a student’s life.  When students have a personalized, educational, happy experience during their school years, they are more prepared to take on the challenges of life including college and/or careers.  You are able to teach students to love learning and also how to overcome the challenges and obstacles they face that keep them from reaching their goals. While adhering to the core curriculum required by the state, you are able to find creative, engaging ways to teach students real life application of the concepts they are learning.

Qualifications:
Valid MN Elementary Teaching license. K-12 Special education license desired. Demonstrated use of 21st Century strategies and approaches to ensure all learners achieve the highest levels. Positive behavior intervention supports and MTSS preferred. Experience in utilizing an inquiry approach to instruction across all content areas and a background in STEM and Everyday Math beneficial.

Openings are available for the Graduate Teaching Fellow Program (classroom experience while working on a masters degree program in Education).  Applicants must have a Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts Teaching degree in Health and Physical Education.

Seniors in a teacher education program who will complete all requirements for a Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science Teaching degree, complete all required testing, and obtain appropriate Minnesota teacher licensure by August, 2022, or recent teacher education graduates (who have not held regular teaching appointments) are eligible to apply.  Application deadline:  until filled.

Teaching Fellow positions are available in the following Professional Development School (PDS) participating districts:

Physical Education/Health, Dakota Meadows Middle School, Mankato Area Public Schools

Martin County West Schools is accepting applications for a 1.0 FTE Art Instructor for the 2022-2023 school year.

Applicants should possess or be eligible for K-12 licensure.  Alternative teaching license through the State of Minnesota if the candidate has a bachelor’s degree and knowledge of the subject area.  Starting salary, no less than $45,500 with additional benefits offered.  Coaching opportunities are available.  Martin County West is located within commuting distances to several surrounding communities in Minnesota and Iowa.
